Did anyone else hear of a rumour that Allardyce is putting together a consortium to buy the club? I may be in a minority but I'd welcome it. Even if Megson keeps them up this year I can't see how we can sustain a premiership future with him for too much longer.

Heard he was being asked to front a consortium, as opposed to heading it or putting it together.

Even if Megson keeps them up this year I can't see how we can sustain a premiership future with him for too much longer.

 

The consortium stuff is old news. As far as Megson is concerned, I now believe you are doing him a disservice. Months ago, I was one of the fearful ones who thought we were being unambitious in appointing Megson. Like a few on here, I took the view we had to get behind him and give him a chance. I now belive that he has shown what he can do with players of a higher calibre than he has ever had the opportunity to work with before.

 

I have no doubt that, with our current line up and Megson at the helm from day one of this season, we would be sitting comfortably in the top half. If he can solve the striking conundrum in the close season I, for one, am looking forward to next season in the EPL with a good measure of optimism (rare for me )

 

Results in Munich, Madrid, Belgrade and at home to Man United have not been lucky. He has built a great defensive unit and that is the foundation of every successful team.
