Guest westmidswhite Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 But ask them if they're swap that few weeks of great fun (and yes, I remember how incredible the feeling was in that cup run we had many years ago, I'd never swap that for the world) for Premier League status. It still seems to be the holy grail. Personally, if we go down, I'll still be there doing the same thing but against different teams and at different grounds. My fear is though, many won't and then eventually we'll not have a club. But playing a weakened side doesn't keep us up I was there is the 4th division and I will follow them until I die - must admit though I dont go as regularly as I did - think its the poor football and atmosphere that has done something there
Traf Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 When Anelka wants to move he does, it's not up to the club. Only happened about ten times now True enough. There's also the fact that it was written into the new contract they persuaded him to sign. The old contract meant we'd have got next to nowt for him, but the 3yr extension meant we'd get a resale profit. Selling Anelka isn't the issue: not getting a replacement is.

It used to be fun. I'm not sure if it's old age or the tenseness of keeping our status, but I get more grumpy every year if we don't win a game. I don't remember giving as much of a f?ck about results when the game was exactly that, fun. Maybe I'm looking wistfully with rose tinted spectacles into the past. But what can we do? I really believe we have our hands tied, it's bigger than any revolution true football fans can muster together. Edited March 16, 2008 by no balls

Beer swiller Totally agree - the fee for Anelka was good business but we needed a replacement before we let him go - all our rivals have players who can score goals
