1st of may will be a good day as Iron Man is out and the massive geek that i am i'm ghetting quite excited.

Another note, do you think the comedy genius that is Boris Johnson will make a good Mayor of London?

As a public figure i think he's great but i don't think he has many real policies.

His campaign seems to be 'I'm Boris Johnson aren't i funny and daft.'

Not ?rsed either way, it's like Scotland, irrelevant to me apart from the very occasional visit, usually paid for by work.

Fancy having the pick of Red Ken or Blue Boris. Either way, serves London right.

He publicly slagged scousers off, he'll do for me =D>

yeah, right.

yeah, right.

Not your finest retort really...

As for the council elections, mine is currently tory and they have haven't raised council tax at all this year. Now obviously, they knew full well that the elections were up so that is why but still, looks good in my book. A lot of people are looking at these elections in a national sense rather than a local one which on one hand is stupid but you can understand peoples frustrations on another. Either way, no way will I be voting red tomorrow...

I'm looking forward to May the 4th, tis Star Wars day :yahoo:

Indeed, May the 4th be with you.

folk who know about these things reckon a defeat for ken and big losses in the councils would be good for gordon brown

tis easy to see where theyre coming from

Ken hates Brown but many in the tory party are really worried if Boris gets in and shows himself to be the bumbling clown he is. Not a good precurser to a Tory g'vt. Still the reason why he's doing very well because he's got one of the world's best spin doctors behind his campaign, the Australian Lynton Crosby. How has tried to turn him away from his loveable English eccentric routine and done it well.

Ken has , once again almost self destructed will his ill advised attacking of the Standard - and Andrew Gilligan - a self described lefty who had been firing broadsides against Livingstone throughout for croneyism and being bascially arrogant and thickheaded.

This is the first mayoral election I've not been able to vote in and at the moment just couldn't call it but overall it'll be large losses for Labour with the same old of the Tories claiming the massive victory and Labour saying its not as bad as it could have been. The saddest thing is that people use this vote as a way of saying something to central government when people should be voted on local issues. I have no problem voting any of the parties if they will tackle my local issues of residents parking, free wheelie bins etc etc yawn....

The Reds have already won round here with the 'I vote labour coz me dad did' mentality.

That's what we like to see, a little bit of political loyalty. Makes the activists jobs easier.

I can't believe there's an Asian chappie standing in Athy elections, I know we're getting all multicultural but we don't want the f?ckers in charge, do we?

 Not far off....

Yes but these same people have eyes that wobble in their head when they walk.

They really shouldn't be allowed to vote, and as they form a significant minority they have a significant say in how things turn out.

I mean, any halfwitted alecan can put a cross in the box. Surely they should only let intellegent people vote.

The fat lady is singing Mr Cliff Morris :drinks:

And congestion charge. He should be hung on that alone.

And the streets, what a shithole London is.

Whilst a clown, surely Boris couldn't do worse, for the majority of those in London, rather than pc joke that Livingstone is was and always will be. A great capital city (which London could be) needs more than that.

Sorry but I'd say the congestion charge has been his great success. So much so that other major cities are looking at adopting similar policies. Love the extra tax on Chelsea Tractors.

Livingstone got in because of the majority, not in spite of it.

That's how it works.
