Undoubtedly talented player just wasn't right for the prem

i think he could have done a job in the prem, but he admitted his heart just wasnt in it anymore.

although saying, coming out of retirement is destined for failure.

As a technically gifted footballer, he's up there with the best we've had. He just couldn't translate it to the English league, though perhaps in a different team he'd be better suited.

Bollox, he was just another foreigner out his depth in the Premier league imo.

Up there with the best during his time in Italy imo. Was delighted when we signed him but he failed to live up to expectations and in the end was a disappointment.

As for coming out of retirement, 2 years is a long time in football, I don't think he'd go back on his decision.

Want my thoughts on it: the Thai bloke needs to hole up in Japan for a while in preparation of a trial in Thailand.

What better way to win friends then getting their version of David Beckham out of retirement with a bucket full of cash at the club he owns in England.

I can't believe or understand how this proposed deal has anything to do with football (unless its shirt sales in Japan related).

If he came back to England with City at least we would be able to show our appreciation at the reebok, can't believe the hierachy let him retire and leave us without us giving him a proper send off

I really do hope that's tongue in cheek, if so, it's also quite funny

but too subtle for many on here

Have to agree, just wasnt good enough for the premiership.

he came to the premiership on the back end of his career, not even a full season. To call him a failure is unfair. He won a championship medal from a top european league and played and captained his country in numerous world cups. Just because someone fails to impress in england, doesn't mean they are out of their depth. some players aren't suited to the premiership. He excelled in Italy so to me that proves his quality. In nakata's case he didn't stay in england long enough to find out if he could be a success.

Its all another bloody PR stunt from city to raise the global profile!

I thought Nakata wasn't all that when he played for us - far too lightweight!

Good enough isn't the right word IMO. You don't play for seven seasons in Italy for quality sides like Roma and Parma (before they went shite) if you're not good enough. He wasn't given time to adjust to the Premiership and our style of play, and probably didn't have the desire too either at that stage in his career. But like i said, as a technically gifted footballer he was pure class.

I find that sentence quite amusing. It could do with - "but as a player in a Premiership team, he was just lightweight and ineffective" adding on. ::::lol::::

nakata was top, top quality once upon a time.

for us he was disappointing, but he was not given enough chances imo.

Nah, he was never going to be effective for us...we did the right thing with him

.....send him back to the land of the rising sun?
