This guy has his haters i know , but i think he can do the buisness next season . He could of easily hit double figures last season , he managed 3 goals , but could of been more , examples missed penalty vs Reading away and an open goal sitter vs Portsmouth @ the Reebok adding to the amount of other chances he had .

So what do we expect from him ? I think he's along with Nolan in our midfield capable of scoring at least 10 goals a season . Goals that we will need considering the rest of our team doesn't look to have many goals in it.

Do i have false/unlikely hopes ?

Nope. I think your hopes are probably well founded. I happen to believe he will turn out to be a great signing and knock a good few in for us. Hope he scores a couple early in the season and his confidence to have a crack will soar.

3 goals and 2 sitters missed in about 15 games or so isn't bad considering when he arrived he hasn't played for ages and was low on confidence. I think with Elmander in the team next season he will hopefully score 10 goals. However i think his assists, particularly from corners, will be quite hight. I don't know how many goals last season came from a Taylor corner that was inswinging from the right (Boro, Sunderland, W Ham spring to mind) so hopefully he will provide quite a few for others to score.

(Plus as you frank_spencer at least one thunderbolt can will be our goal of the season)

Nope, he will be a good en this year, proper pre-season behind him and all that.

Kindest Regards

I really like Taylor, scores goals has great delivery from set pieces, works his bollox of and is a team player, if he performs as well as he did in the last 6 games I will be happy, I find it amazing that last season many fans and a good number on here were only to quick to slate him, are they now big enough to retract there hasty assumptions.

Good player - was just playing catch up on his fitness from the time he joined us.

A full pre-season will see him start on a level footing this season. I expect good things from him.

Minimum of 6 goals plus at least the same from assists.

I think on the first day back in training, Megson took Taylor, Elmander and Davies to one side to train on their own

Davies and Elmander in the box, Taylor moving around from corner, wing and outside box

whipping in balls all day

I expect a fair few assists

he's in my fantasy team for this reason

This guy has his haters i know

I've never really hated any player who turns out for Bolton Wanderers and I suggest very strongly that the overwhelming majority of those folks who have a negative [realistic] opinion of how he has played so far since he joined don't hate him either.

I also believe that making negative or positive comments on this board is a whole lot more different to doing the same at the match. At the match I can see that, depending on the player, there may be a direct change in performance based on the mood of fans toward him.

So, all that said, I don't feel awkward or traitorous by answering the question posed as the title of this thread. I'll give my honest opinion and that of a lot of fans who would like to be honest but fear getting hammered by life's "do-gooders" :)

So here is my essay entitleded What Can Matty Do Next Season? and hope it's read with the correct attitude that we all have different opinions and this is just mine. I don't mind being criticised myself for having it as long as you don't treat me like "I'm not being a proper fan". Nothing would please me more than being proved completely wrong!

Matt Tayor will play in the first team for at least the first half of the season, will probably experience a large level of backing from both fans and manager initially. He'll get the odd goal, but his shots to goals ratio will be woeful! The fans will become used to the positive side of his game [crossing, hard work etc etc] and take it for granted, but will grow increasingly frustrated with the negative side [him being a Championship standard player in all other areas] ... His performances will dip and plateau at distinctly average. Megson will finally lose patience with his non-improvement [ to the player he thought he'd bought] around about January when he is dropped to the bench. He'll be a squad player from then on till he's bought by a Championship side.

I like him, the fact that he can adapt in an attacking or defensive role adds ballance to the left side, i also like the fact that he is very postive with his first touch and likes to play forward. His late movement into the final third causes problems for opponents and is likely to distract defenders creating space for our front one / two!

Bollox to the fact that he missed 'those' chances, he was fooking there in the first place!

and... the bird i saw him with in the hotel was fit as!

Loves his lefties

I think Taylor was a great buy, he's a box to box midfielder who continues to put the effort in for the full 90 mins, something we have not had for a long time.

Like it was said before he get in the right places and cofuses defenders by arriving late in the box, I think he will chip in with 10 plus goals this season, plus now he should have someone in the box to get on the end of his endless supply of well placed crosses

"he's a box to box midfielder"

Never heard a wide player referred to as this before! You know of a different role for him next season?

If he does that, then the ?5M we spent on him will look a real bargain, as his value would probably go up to ?10M+ in the current market

i said it when we signed him and i havent change my mind.

average player, cracking left foot.

and as long as he continues to run his bolx off, he'll do for me.

For a wide player he makes a lot of tackles in his own box,
