Tomorrow apparently, whilst most parents are at work.

Great PR exercise!

I also heard from the same source, that Davies only came because Steinsson rang him to say nobody else had bothered. KD was in the middle of something and dropped it to get there ASAP.

Kevin Davies...

Woah Woah!

Don't bring my aviator into this!

Anyhoo, SKD is 100% FIT! :D

Of course i love him, silly

Ćunts the lot of them if this is true. I go watching them because I always have; but Bolton Wanderers Football Club could, just occasionaly, just for a change, act like they have some sort of iota of class and professionalism.

And while I'm in rant mode, I had to nip to the NW today as my mum's not in the best of nick - how come fućking Leigh Road in Howfen is all shut again, just sod all time after it was last done?? And how come my car conked out by Bargain Booze in Daisy Hill? And then when I got it going, how come my fućking speedometer knacked itself on the way back? Not happy me

beacuse British Gas/Transco/National Grid (whatever they're called now) made a fook up of it last time round so they've been made to come back and fix it.

fućking ćunts

I was coming round to Megson but this is a fcuking disgrace.

The last family fun day I went to was the last one on a weekend, about 3 years ago (some Bolton fans do work!). Under Big Sam, every single player was there, all sat in a line in the club shop - 20+ of them.

You can guarantee that Big Sam would have dragged every player there - not given them the bloody option.

The non attendance of players at a family day has pissed me off more than all the previous debacles that the club has inflicted on us, for me lisbon and the carling cup debacles were bad decisions, but there is absolutely no excuse for the non attendance yesterday, it must make people question why do we support BWFC, I am begining to ask that question of myself.

I rang the club some time ago to find out when the Family Day was this year because of the distance (275 miles) for me and my kids. We normally use the day as an excuse to stay over with the grandparents. When they told me it was on a Thursday I was almost lost for words. They also told me it was to coincide with the launch of the new kit. Surely it would have been better to have done it the other way around. As for the lack of players this is shocking. It should have been a three line whip. What sort of signal does this send out? Perhaps more of a concern is didn't someone in the club's marketing department/hierarchy realise what sort of signal this would send out? I can see it now "What would really feck the next potential generation of fans off?"

one way to make it up to the fans is for on Bank Holiday monday get the entire squad into the exibition hall at the bok for a meet and greet style event.

I can only agree...It was only a few weeks back that Mr Gartside admitting the club had got things wrong in the last few years and lost contact with the fans. This just highlights the serious lack of respect the club/management has for the fans.

I don't blame the players, the majority are just here for the cash and don't give two fucks about the fans. But its the job of the management to insist each and everyone of them turns up, without question.

This has pissed me off big-time, I think I may send an email to Mr Gartside to see what his take on this is.

Desparado tells me that even the Bolton Wanderers publicity rag - better known as the Bolton News - makes reference to the non-show of players at yesterdays family fun day.

No quotes to post as there is nothing on the Bolton News website yet, so I assume it is only in the hard copy?

Top idea this! Sell new ?49 kids Season Tickets to attract a new generation of fans - and then, before you've even sent the tickets out (but long after you've banked the money), crap on 'em. Brilliant!

There shouldn't be apologies - there should simply be a properly run, professional organisation.

Whites leave fans feeling blue

11:00pm Thursday 24th July 2008

By Jane Lavender ?

HUNDREDS of Wanderers fans were left queuing in the heat as an autograph signing session at the club?s family fun day turned into a PR disaster.

Just two players ? Gretar Steinsson and Kevin Davies ? turned up to greet supporters, many of whom stood for more than two hours in the sun today hoping to get their first glimpse of this season?s squad.

The club compensated those who had waited with ?40 gift vouchers, but those who had earlier given up left the Reebok Stadium empty-handed and frustrated.

Dad-of-two Paul Lane, from Breightmet, said his daughters, Nicole and Lauren, were upset that they had not got to meet any players when they returned home at 2.30pm.

He said: ?I?m a season ticket holder, and we have been waiting here for well over an hour. It is sad to think the players cannot turn to an event like this.?

When the signing session finally began, Steinsson and Davies signed shirts and posed for photographs alongside Wanderers legend Tony Kelly. Many fans were disappointed with the turn out from the team.

Teacher Gary Watton, from Westhoughton, said: ?The club have done their bit by organising the fun day and giving vouchers to the fans who waited for so long ? that was fantastic. It is just sad that more of the players could not come to support the event.?

Club spokesperson Helen Wood apologised to supporters for the inconvenience. She said: ?We are sorry the fans were left waiting around on such a warm afternoon. We hope the vouchers went some way to helping them enjoy the day.?

spot on, the least that we should expect from this tin pot club we support, the lack of accountability is shocking, tis a shame the supporters club is treated with such comptempt by the club as that would be a view to dragging megson over the coals.

I echo the sentiment of all the disgruntled posts on here.

The ironic thing is, up to the point of the "meeting the players" the day had been fantastic, I went down with the missus my eldest and my niece and it was a really well set up and organised day, free tours, activities happily hosted by Tower FM plenty to see and do. They had even got a sytem in place for getting your hand stamped so that when the players arrived no-one would be left disappointed.

Just one vital missing ingredient - the PLAYERS. Them alone together with Megson have got to take the blame, yes there will be the excuses of communication etc etc, but if 2 can make it then there can be surely no excuse for the the mass no-show of all the others

Can't really see how it's Megsons fault only 2 players showed up, perhaps he could be accused of giving them too much credit and trusting them to turn up.

But then again why wasn't he there?

I'd rather hope he was busy either preparing for tomorrows games or more importantly sorting out some new signings

You can still do that while ensuring a bit of committment and decency to your fans which is arguably just as important if not more
