gartside should make it clear they have to appear. thats what stands us out from other clubs.

=D> :good: :good:

The majority of fans round me are Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham. They have been amazed previously when I have told them about the Family Day as their clubs (and I do mean their) put nothing of the sort on for the fans.

The club is quick enough to jump up and down when we have a low attendance for

a game.

They are giving with 1 hand (kids for ?49) and taking with the other (not showing on the family fun day)

Surely banging on about being a family club and attracting the youngsters to games would have been helped by the lazy overpaid players giving up an hour of their time ?

yep our hopefully 2nd choice keeper is due a testimonal soon. Wont be a PR disaster in our house, we aint going. *

* note for Traf, got a trump card to to play with C86 jnr :good:

Anyone who attends a testimonial for a multi-millionaire footballer needs their head examining.

I'm not quite with it today, I don't get you?

Soz, I think I meant Casino. Everytime I say for example, "I aint going to thsi game", Cas normally says, "thats until C86 Jnr says summut".

I'm not with it too, this weather is to hot, when's the rain due.

May I just add though:

Unless all proceeds go to charity!

Totally agree, never had any intention of going, was JSL.

Testimonials are glorified friendlies.

And friendlies are for mugs, aren't they?

Agreed. Hats off to Niall Quinn for starting that. One of the few good guys in football these days.

Yet instead of raking it in at the shop, they gave everyone a ?40 voucher. So new shirts were free!

but would only be used as a duster, or worn by gays

And I heard you don't dust.

nor getting a shirt

On a more positive note, well done to Steinsson for showing up, shows that he cares about the fans and is passionate about BWFC IMO.

Sorry to kill the Steinsson love in but he was well over an hour late and was only there as he was taking his kids!! Megson, Cahill and others were still at the training ground till around 4!!

odd that steinsson wasn't at training?

what this shows is that theres some discontent and explanations are the order of the day

til folk get one, this'll fester

So then why are so bothered if they trun up en masse or not? I don't take issue with the fact its a bad do not to show but it should hardly be treated with such grativas. Two players turned up, fair fcks to them, I don't think the whole squad should have been made to attend under a three line whip.

The players are obligated to turn up as the represent the town of Bolton and without that and the fans, they would not be in such a privileged position.

The club, the manager and players need to look long and hard at themselves and come to terms that they represent the town, not their own self satisfied ego.

Reality check is in order I think, but will they?

The explanation probably starts with M and ends with Egson.

Applicable to almost everybody in professional football (certainly the top two divisions anyway) - unfortunately, the players don't give two hoots about the club, just as long as they are getting paid. If somebody offered them more money, then they would be off in a heartbeat.

It doesn't show anything of the sort, Steinsson could be injured or could be coming back from a slight pull, and therefore could have been told to just have a short training session. The other players that were still training, may have piled on some weight in pre-season, and as such could have been told to doa double session.

To talk of discontent is just madness

I do agree but I still think more is being made of this issue than needs be. Ok I wasn't personally affected by it and Megson might not be a 'community spirited' as Sam (which is too be expected as Sam has lived in the town most of his life) but lets not forget Megson is one bad season away from losing his job - I'm bloody sure I'd have the team training over anything else if it meant a good season and employment!

Hang on one minute.

The club have or appear to have realised they need the 'young' fans and have thus reduced season tickets to ?49 to get them 'hooked' on going to the game. When players don't turn up, you tell me, what signals does this send out eh?

I said I agree it not the best signal but I just think there's been a bit of an overreaction, that's all. Were all the player's promised to appear in any pre publicity for the event? If they were training they were training, if Megson only released a couple of players then its not great, but its not the big disaster some people keep making out. I sometimes think its any excuse to just be angry at the club.

Careful, its a slippery slope. You'll be having couscous for tea next.

Reet, fine, but then the club should have said that noone would be there. Simple enough - and that would have stopped any problems. But this is the trouble; they can't even do the simple things right.

The issue is with the organisation of the club and the PR that flows from it. Given the amount of money coming into the club from the PL there's no excuse for the latter not being 1st class.

:D

was considering it, with some nice grilled Halloumi
