We've Had A Bid For Diouf

Story

Edit: . . . just seen an interview with Meggo on Sky Sports News and he says we had no bid for him [ last night after the game ] and he was injured, so apologies if this is total rubbish from the TBN! ... wouldn't surprise me they never normally get a scoop... I think maybe the lazy journo has misunderstood the part where Gary was saying we have had a bid in for a player for a while and won't be upping it!

Just hear diouf for sunderland on 5 live. strange move, well apart from the money.

Think megson as got sick of the player . He wants him out and if only sunderland have bid for him ,he must go there . Its a move back in his career , for me . He was always going though but thought we would get nearer 4 mill for him . He went missing alot last year , in many games . Apart for the last home match ,we carried him to many times . Just hope we go out and buy a proven replacement . We must have cash left , after all the players ,on big wages , we should splash the cash again . Good luck to diouf though been a great servant to the club , but why leave us for sunderland ???

absolute steal at ?2.5 million, great signing for Sunderland. Shocking loss for us, chipped in with a few golas but he created so much and also played others into the game by holding the ball up.cant help but think an arm round the shoulder type manager would of got him to stay.

More likely to play in the Championship there, than the Champions League

?2.5m is no where near enough for him.

while I am not dioufs biggest fan at least he gives us another dimension, I will be very dissapointed if we let him go so cheaply, Mr Megson needs to get his finger out, we need an injection of pace and and vision, after a promising start on the transfer front we seem to be going backward.

I bet the mackams are delighted.

I bet the mackams are delighted.

Also, does this mean we get to give this despicable, filthy, spitting human being a hard time when he shows up at our place?

Doesn't deserve to be in the prem etc etc...

Oh, and he WILL score against us.

?2.5m is no where near enough for him.

In one!

He has had his critics and he is obviously a complete fruit loop but he is still, on his day, our most creative player by a mile.

2 questions.

Why so cheap?

Why the fook go there? Not exactly a step up, despite their good support.

Also, can you imagine him out on the lash in Newcastle on a Saturday night (which he will inevitably do, he can't help himself). He will get absolutely tw@tted!

For someone entering the last year of a contract, fee is reasonable. He can sign for anyone in January and let's be honest, this is Diouf - do you really think he'll give his all whilst waiting for a deal to wind down?

As for going to Sunderland, well I'll give him 6 months. Can you imagine Keane being able to man manage him? Sounds desperate and a move he'll regret within weeks of arriving. It's become a principle thing...he had to leave to save face after the lap of honour and comments made. But it's a bad move for his career - probably the last big money move of his career if (by some miracle) he sees the contract out.

And as for what he gives us, a once in four games player - one of those being against Sunderland.

I suspect we'll now push through the Harper deal, Riga deal and maybe another back-up striker.

The other thing going for Sunderland is the look of ambition. Keane has already spent some cash this week and claims he's buying '5 or 6' Premiership class players this week.

Unfortunately for Keane, they all seem to be misfits and/or temperamental types for big money - Chimbonda, possibly Cisse, Diouf to name just three - which could work out fine and dandy, with plenty of flare footy on display or if there's a bad start to the season, saddle you with a set on moaning, whinging, can't be bothered, wantaway mercenaries who fancy a relegation battle as much as they fancy a wage cut.

That goal he scored against Sunderland at the end of the season was a cracker curling it into the top corner. He played really well that day(possibly man of the match), as though he was putting himself on the stage, for a transfer.

Maybe Sunderland overrate him, and are prepared to put him on a high wage up there.

He is a talented player but there are two sides to Diouf, and the other side is a liability. Getting sent off or having to be brought off before getting sent off is selfish. At times he thinks about his own image and reputation more than what he can do for the team.

...also be interested to hear the background to all this - the nonsense about going to Senegal for 'family business', the mysterious injury - wonder if he's refusing to play for us?

You can't really blame him for not wanting to get injured against Rochdale and Macc.

I don't think the club will want that either if they want to get shut.

I think the Mackems will love him! He will be their best player by far! I wonder what kind of reception he will get when he comes back with Sunderland to play here?

Well, he loves attention good or bad so personally I'll have zero reaction. Not that he'll care I'm sure. Then again I'll probably be in the bar anyway so ignore my last comment! :D

Keane and Diouff = a match made in hell. :diablo: =@

It'll all end in tears, i say - it'll all end in tears

Aye. I wonder if he'll suffer the curse of all those who disrespect BWFC!

Arm around the shoulder is fine if the player actually then plays well. If he continues to play apathetically then a kick up the backside is needed and if that doesn't happen ship him out.

It's not just Megson either, before people start having a go at him. Remember after the ANC the other year? BSA couldn't get him to play for us for the remainder of the season and he eant off on the sick.

Diouffy, while a great character, hasn't really made the impact for us he should have done. I don't think he's played that well since we turned his loan into a permanent move.

A sad loss to us all we now have no creative entertaining players at all but we will be fit organised and hard to be beat not my cup of tea i'm afraid

I can't remember ever hearing such a positive post about Diouf, or anyone else for that matter from you while he was playing regular for us.

Is this an out of character positive post by you, or another cheap dig at Megson?

You are the type of fan that gives Negativeways.com a bad name.

it's like the ricketts scenario

he's basically forced himself into a corner where he feels he has to move on, though not quite as desperately as Ricketts

and this is his only way out it would seem

so he's taking it

It just said on sultana that he is up there today for a medical.......my thoughts, great player for us when he wanted it, I wish him luck, but sunderland isn't the next step i'd have thought he'd have taken
