We can all do that, we all have opinions on players, formations, managers etc. we've all seen enough of the game to know the basics. Anyone can say "he got that wrong" with hindsight.

BUT we don't know what goes on behind closed doors and many other factors going into the decision making process. Our "decisions" will never be implemented by a team playing pub football let alone in one of the top leagues in the world so we will never find out if there is a massive flaw in them (there almost certainly is). None of you could do my job and conversely I couldn't do yours.

When someone says "until he gets real" in reference to Megson, you really have 2 options: 1) Jose Mourinho has registered on WW 2) they are a plum. I know where my money is.

End of the day, Megson can't win. People have already made their minds up about him.

I will not slag Megson off he is doing a good job,IMO

Yes as decisions go sending Riga on for 5 minutes was a master stroke. What purpose did it serve?

hopefully it confirmed to megson his decision to sign a player none of us had a clue about could well be a good one, and maybe next time he can give him a little bit longer

assuming circumstances are similar, with a nervy team hanging back to protect what they had

If he can confirm that on the back of 5 minutes then I apologize

You could also turn that around Frank and say some morons spend all their time defending the club no matter what!!

I also believe that Megson should be given his chance but he'll be given grief when he deserves it and praise when he deserves it.

so, he shouldn't be getting any for yesterday

nobody on here knows how fit riga is, or megsons reasons for not playing him for longer, so to be critical is just bollocks

my understanding is that he staggered through an hour at chorley and looked absolutely fooked

now, if you think that theres a good chance he's up to playiong an hour in the prem, thats up to you, but my guess, and its just a tiny little hunch, is that those way better informed/qualified than anybody on here, reckon he's probably not

Edit:Oh and last season BWFC - Nolan = Championship Football this seasopn

About time someone supported Nolan. He does'nt half get some stick but theres always been one Midfielder singled out for abuse. Darby, Joyce, Patterson, Pollock to name some. There is'nt a team outside of the top 4 who would'nt have him. Everton were meant to be sniffing in the close season & they were banging on door of champions league las t season. I've Toon, Hammers, Everton, Villa friends and they rate him & highly.

Yes he missed a pen & two good chances yesterday but he was prepared to take it, much as i worship the ground SKD walks on I did'nt see him step up to the plate. I'd be more worried if he was'nt getting into the position to score the goal. Also as MOTD proved yesterday., SteTaylor handled the ball it broke to Nolan who leathered in another shot which Taylor again saved with his hand. With Given out of position it would have been the opener. Had the ref not already blown for the first handball it probably would been a red card as well.

Get off his back support him & he'll not let you down to often

I like Nolan I think he's awreet

I don't think I mentioned an hour.5 minutes just isn't enough to have any sort of impact on a game.Whether it be to see how fit he is or to try and make a difference to the game. Why bother?

who would they be then?

i'll give stick when it's waranted but over all yesterday could've been massivley different.

but performance wise i can't complain

why not? we lost a poor game to a team no better than ourselves. i'm not overly impressed to see joey o'brien on the right wing and if replacing elmander with mccann is the best we can do, then we need more players in asap

on the plus side we looked pretty solid, muamba and cahill were good again. just rather gutted as that was a good opportunity to get some points on the board and i can't see our upcoming away games being any easier. good day out though :drinks:

I'm with Frank. Performance wise, I can't complain. Worked hard, generally looked a better team than them and unjust that we took nothing from the game.

Don't get too excited early doors. I can remember going top after beating Liverpool about 3 games in some years ago. We avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth.

Signs look good to me. Elmander OK?

heard megson say it was a hamstring injury to elmander

hope its not a tear

Out of interest bolty did you get the match live in your home? and do you get Bolton matches live in the local pubs (depending on the local time of course)

I have seen both games live so far mate. The main game on Saturday was Liverpool v Boro. Thanks to Viewers Choice, we had our game, Spurs v Mackems, Dingles v Hull and Stoke v Villa to choose from.

Obviously I watched every minute of ours and thought we were impressive. Certainly didn't deserve to lose. Suspect that if Elmander stayed on we wouldn't have lost. Does me head in how folk have made their minds up about certain people (Taylor, Megson etc.) and can't bring themselves to praise them when they do summat good. I wasn't for appointing Megson but we have to give the bloke a chance with the team that he has been able to build. So far, based on his signings, I have to have him on the plus side of the ledger.

Cahill, Steinsson, Taylor, Muamba, Elmander. Makes good reading in my book.

Buthis detractors will point out Cohen as a flaw in his signings despite the fact we payed all of 40p and a bag o balls for him.

Must admit, as soon as I heard that Elmander had gone off, I just presumed that Riga would have come on, I don't know why he didn't. I would imagine that we will get the opportunity to see how good Riga is, or isn't, on Tuesday night

To be honest, i thought Riga had come on for Elmander and it was not until GM made the change at the end that i realised that it was Gardner! Had a few ales by then though.

you must have

mccann came on for elmander

it were a great day out though stwawberry before and whitly bay after :drinks:

proper upset with result with a bit of luck we could have won 3 0

Dont worry them bastards will get it on saturday,5-0.

What I couldn't believe this afternoon was I was listening in on GMR and they cut from us to another game and the commentator came out with the following line:-

"there are more holes in the defence than a spanish airplane" :nea:

Whoops..

Managed to watch the game in Bendidorm surrounded by Toon fans, thought we were rock solid as we should be with 3 holding midfielders, I thought we were taking the game to newcastle upto the penalty miss and would go onto win the game, the biggest dissapointment was riga having 4 minutes to make an impact, I thought that was very negative from Megson.

i disagree with us taking the game to them...we were desperate going forward when davies was on his todd (not his fault mind). the only reason we got so many chances was because they are pretty bad at defending. i think we should look to be a bit more attacking even though we are away from home....a midfield of guthrie and butt should not be scary us tbh. all in all if we play like that away against many teams well be looking at another major struggle.

We must have watched different games. When it finished my first thought was '?f we play like that in away games all season, we'll have a good few wins'. Robbed.
