November 1, 200817 yr So how do you rate Gartside as a chairman? Took all the praise when things were going well, distanced himself from the Sammy Lee era, then told us people who knew football would understand the Megson appointment. Out of 10 to make it easier.

To start a 'how do you rate Gartside' with a one sided post seems a little silly to me.

November 1, 200817 yr Author Only put my opinion on miss NB. I think Gartside has been a good chairman, will be even better if he holds his hands up and says, "OK i Fu**ed up with Megson." and sacks him before it's too late. I just can't see it happening in time though.

I just can't see it happening in time though. I don't care if he does or doesn't accept the blame for the appointment. Thing is if he introduced Megson, saying, we're currently shit and this is the best of a bad lot we could get, would've inspired us even less. Blame cultures aren't healthy imho. I just want him to sort it out, or preferably be already sorting it out. I'd give him an 8!
November 2, 200817 yr gartside uncovered an absolute fluke when he appointed fsa, a failure in all his previous clubs, managed to turn it into a double fluke by achieving something neither he nor BWFC will ever achieve again. he left at just the right time, to selfishly protect his own image, when he realized his luck had run out and BWFC where heading back to what we, unfortunatly, are. a team who are to good for the championship but not big enough for the premiership.

November 2, 200817 yr i maybe wrong but wasnt notts county the only one he wasnt sacked from? he was sacked from Blackpool, but I seem to remember it being a strange sacking, despite him being on the right tracks there sure some statto will prove me wrong. (also, when he was at Limerick he was building a side to compete in the Champions league quarter finals)

November 2, 200817 yr when gartside gave sam a 10 year contract, were we 'successfull'? lucky or not, it was fookin good judgement imo.
November 2, 200817 yr when gartside gave sam a 10 year contract, were we 'successfull'? lucky or not, it was fookin good judgement imo. not good judgement imo just taking the cheap option [as allways] which turned into temporary success by nothing short of a fluke'
November 2, 200817 yr 8 out of 10 from me. In fact if he engaged his brain before he spoke to the press I would probably have given him a 9! Him & Fat Sam much have gone to the same school of self publicity, however like big Sam you cant really knock the results no matter what contempt they both have for the fans
November 2, 200817 yr probably rates at a 6, on the positive he brought in Sam Allardyce at the right time(mind you there was not any other viable alternatives), brokering the deal that got Eddie davies involved in BWFC(otherwise we would have gone bust) on the negative side he has made 2 shocking appointments, never gave allardyce the money when we were 3rd on new years day, over the last 3-4 years he has been responsible for driving a wedge between the fans and the club. November 2, 200817 yr over the last 3-4 years he has been responsible for driving a wedge between the fans and the club. i'd have said about the same but this season and the tail end of last it looks as if he's realised how important the joe public fans are to the club and has sstarted to make ammends 7/10 for know if he fires off megson and appoints someone half decent then he'll go upto an 8
November 2, 200817 yr Rather Gatside than any of the warburtons who, it seems, are not allowed to spend any of their dough on football. Gartside 8.75/10
November 2, 200817 yr when gartside gave sam a 10 year contract, were we 'successfull'? lucky or not, it was fookin good judgement imo. Not thought about it like this before but maybe the 10 contract gave bsa the confidence to become the egotistical tube he became, with hindsight maybe shorter term contracts may have kept him grounded?

I've never read as much bollocks in all my life. failure at previous clubs????? (promotion with Notts county, Blackpool to play offs) promotion with us, cup semi, final all those top half finishes a double fluke?????????? are you on glue? As for gartside 8 would have been 9.5 if it was not for the ginger.

November 2, 200817 yr Not a Gartside fan as a person, but he's been a bloody good un for us overall. 8/10
November 2, 200817 yr Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has vowed not to sack Gary Megson despite the club currently sitting bottom of the table. Bolton have won only two of their opening ten games in the league this season and, given that Sammy Lee was dismissed in October last year after winning only one of 11 games, there has been speculation over Megson's future. But Gartside insists the situation with Megson is completely different and has vowed to stand by the under-fire boss. "Gary has the 100 percent support of the players, which the other manager (Sammy Lee) did not," he told The Mail on Sunday. "That is why things are not the same between now and then. That 8 is very close to dropping to a 6 !
November 2, 200817 yr That 8 is very close to dropping to a 6 ! Agreed, because of the points already mentioned namely, not backing BSA when 3rd in the league & hi two appointment post BSA
