Nolan And Andy O'brien

Fojut's injured.

Regardless, I reckon if he was going to make the grade we'd have seen a bit more of him.

He's 21 now - Cahill's 22 (nearly 23, I know) and he's played over 100 games.

We need six points from those games. Arsenal and United are the first league games in 2009 and we'll roll over against them. First winnable game in the New Year is the Dingles on the 28th.

We calling wiginn the dingles now???

thought that name was reserved for blackburn only?.

Wigan's not in the new year, it's the last game of this year.

I'll bet he's been good for us more often than he's been shit!

He has cost us more goals than any other player this season.

Last week we was talking about this being the best Bolton back 4 we've ever had.....

AOB has had some dog sh*t games for us this season.

He is an honest lad & always gives 110% so can't knock him there. He is just simply not premiership quality, his distribution is crap, has no composure in possession and ball watches a lot of the time.

A centre half in Jan is a must IMO.

aob is the weakest player in the back four, granted.

but to say he is shit is utter dog turd.

Yes, to say he is shit is shit.

He is a Championship, honest to goodness, lad, a better reserve than Shittu.

We may have to shell out ?5m to improve his position by 10%, but if we have it, we should.

However, is the lack of mobility in midfield the bigger problem?

:good:

on the 28th

Don't think we're in a 'need points' scenario quite yet. I'll take a beating by both Red Cvnts if we don't lose against Wigan or Pompy and then a look to an 'easier' second half of the season for our 16+ points up to safety (or 26+ points to Europe)

Not sure you've written what you meant there, Chris. Not losing "against Pompey or Wigan" means you'd be happy with one point. Even 2 points isn't good enough. We need more than that from games like those.

4 points from those two games and steal a point from any of the three top-4 games ('Pool, ManU & Arse) and that would be a great platform for the remainder of the season.

We need 6 from those 2 games.

My thoughts exactly. These are teams we should be beating at home if we want to push on up the league.

Sorry, win one draw one is fine. Really don't think we need to win both to be in a decent position (although I think we will win both, Pompy have just got stuffed and Wigan are inbread).

this is our toughest run of games in the season.

if we get 6 points in this 'block' of 6, given we had to play united liverpool arsenal and villa, that would be a decent return.

we will not have a tougher series of games.

if we get dicked by wigan and pompey we will be in a mess however and the miserable twats who have stopped posting in recent weeks will be back.

I've said exactly the same, surely we can't both be wrong!

Just to clarify what i meant in starting this topic

was that AOB looked lost on Saturday and should have delt

with the first goal and the third,i think a rest may do him good

We can't afford to rest em as we don't av n e one decent enough to take there place!

aye but we hadn't lost to two of the top four then

Fojut is coming back injury and probably isn't quite ready for the first team.

Nolan is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma - it's well documented we're not sure why, but in the main we're better with him than without him, so let's leave it at that for now.

O'Brien - I'm not his biggest fan - he's a solid grafter who won't let you down and he's good enough when he plays above himself, but in general and being ruthless I think we need a replacement or at the very, very least some decent competition.

However, at this stage in the season, with Shittu, Fojut or Basham being the possible replacements, dropping or resting AOB can simply not be an option - far too risky until January and only then if we have an established replacement.

When our Kev stops pointing at others and concentrates on his own game il get off his case.

When defending and yes he has to do this, he should in my humble opinion force play backwards if only by applying presure.

Against Chelsea i had a ten minute look at Nolan who was always secondry to where the ball was played and when eventually getting there the ball had already been moved on! He would then point to where the ball had gone!

Granted this was against Chelsea but this happens on a regular basis.

He is a chancer, he is looking for the ball to break to him, he is happy to let the others do defensive duty!

So fair enough this could be his role, therefore if two others are breaking up the play he has to become more creative, get on the ball more and create more chances!

He isnt!

He doesnt contribute enough to the team currently! Visually!

I dont see the contribution that he or O'Brien have on the training ground, changing rooms etc, maybe this is a huge positive reason why they are in the team!

amazea me given how bad nolan is that manager after manager at the club does not see it and keeps him in the team.
