Steinsson

I'm getting worried.

If you 're marking any winger you don't give him a 20 yard start but in the second half, Steinsson managed to do this 3 times - to Ronaldo of all players! For me, Basham looked far more solid and secure at right back last week.

Add to that Steinsson wasting a number of good crossing opportunities yesterday, especially in the first half.

If it had been Nicky Hunt at right back yesterday, the boo boys would have been on his back in big style.

I'm not worried about right back.

Ironically our best team in recent times, the 2004/05 one had its weak links in the two full back positions.I think Steinsson and Samuel are both good players with the full back positions stronger now than our midfield and forward line.Samuel's run and cross for Davies to head onto the roof of the net in the second half was very good.

Steinsson did let Ronaldo get away, but at least it was on a day when the world's best player also had an off day.

Steinsson and Cahill are Meggo's two best signings for me.Not worried in the slightest about the lad.

Basham or Jussi were MOTM for me <_<

Basham looks a good one,if he can get his distribution right he could be a diamond in the making :yahoo:

As for Gretar I didn't think he did that bad, bear in mind he was up against the World player of the year

cos of our attacking limitations, steinnson is encouraged to get forward, generally to good effect

post match, megson admitted united were so good, ronaldo is allowed to neglect his job (ie tracking steinnson) cos what they still have at the back is so good

Basham or Jussi were MOTM for me <_<

From what I saw yesterday I agree wholeheartedly but can he avoid the local product syndrome ?

Not a chance.

If he's not developed into Fabregas by the start of next season, the boo boys will be on his back.

Steinsson does need to get tighter to the guy he's marking and try and prevent those crosses coming in! I've noticed that recently. We never seem to close the opposition down when there about to whip one. And as we've conceeded sh!t loads of headers surely its just common sence to stop the crosses coming in?!

ronado was kept very quiet, until steinsson was given licence to get forward in the 2nd half.

but people still believe we should be attacking at all costs.

Not a chance.

Next season, most idiots will only give him to the next game :nea:

In my view it's not steinnsson thats the problem if SKD misses his first challenge then his lack of pace means he's out the equation thats why the quality teams always get round the back of us quick one twos and davies can't keep up with his man.

Wrong question for me, H.

My question would be : Can he continue to work hard at developing his game, or will he rest on his first-team laurels ?

I won't mention any names.

You don't need to.

We would concede a lot more if Davies wasnt in front of Steinsson. Cant think of many right sided players who would defend his full back as much as Davies does.

And thats why Davies is stuck on the right and thats why Megson needs a big lunk like Makululu!

I would leave Nolan on the bench and let Basham keep his place - the fact that you don't automatically get your place back may teach Nolan to keep his mouth shut and not get suspended in the first place.

I'd play Ricky on the left and Taylor on the right, with Muamba and Basham in the centre and Nolan just behind SKD up top, with Big Mak ont'bench for last 20 or so if needed.

So:

Jussi

Jloyd

Cahill

O'Brien

Steinsson

Ricky G

Muamba

Basham

Taylor

Nolan

Davies

Edited by Electric Gretar

one thing is becoming clear and that is that muamba is better when he has licence to get forward and run with the ball

so if we're playing 4-1-4-1, he shouldn't be the 1

if we're playing 4-2-3-1 i just get confused and don't know who should play where

Megson's track record is to get his new signings in the team ASAP.

I won't be surprised if the two loan signings both start.

agreed. mccann is the destroyer there. or possibly nolan just pointing and shouting?

i'd really like to see gardner play in centre mid too, how about?

_______nolan_______

muamba____gardner

but that leaves mccann out, whos been arguably the our best centremid this season.....

I think the new French centre half should start above O'Brien.
