March 14, 200917 yr already threads on centre halves and elmander...... but our midfield 4 is so far off good enough it is scarey. makes me laugh fucking idiots shouting for 4 4 2 with our players it aint an option. ricky, badger, young kid, taylor will get over run every week

March 14, 200917 yr Have to agree our midfield is lacking and is the main reason we are crap away from home, if we do stay up money has to be released to get in the required quality and numbers.
March 14, 200917 yr West Ham dominated due mainly to Scott Parker bossing midfield. Danny Murphy was on top of midfield today (accepted not to the same degree as Parker), giving Fulham a key footing in the game. We are rudderless. It comes back to the Nolan factor. Not sure what he ever did in the middle of the park but we are starting to miss it!
March 14, 200917 yr It comes back to the Nolan factor. Not sure what he ever did in the middle of the park but we are starting to miss it! I don't think Nobby had anywhere near the creative influence of Murphy or Parker. It's been said on here many times before - we need a midfield creator with a bit of guile. Wonder if Hiddink would lend us Deco?
March 14, 200917 yr Theres no way Taylor can play on the right. Were desperate for a right winger. The only problem is are there any that would want to come to us?
March 15, 200917 yr That current midfield is what I call our kamikaze line-up, for pretty obvious reasons. Shapeless, rudderless & over-run, it might as well be 4-2-4 for all it's achieving. Sorry, but that's the way I see it at the moment.
March 15, 200917 yr Agreed Back to 433 and drop Elmander? That would be my plan. Back to Muamba McCann and Davies in the centre, Gardner and Taylor on the wings (not Davies as he is not effective at all on the wing), and for me at the moment it would be Davies up top which means Elmander to the bench.
March 17, 200917 yr Theres no way Taylor can play on the right. Were desperate for a right winger. The only problem is are there any that would want to come to us? And there's the problem. We're used to an end-of-career type of player who BSA would persuade to join us for one last big pay day. Not; in any way, shape, or form; having a dig at The Ginger One, but does he have the ability to persuade those same players to join us? I always thought a player like Scholes would come to us after ManU; he can still play a bit, local lad, right colour of hair for some . . . the list is endless. Edit= Oops. Quoted wrong post. March 17, 200917 yr Our midfield might as well not bothered on saturday with the amount of times the ball flew over their heads straight to Hangeland's head. The problem is when we have the ball nobody is moving, whenever M Davies gets the ball he looks up for somebody making a run and theres fuck all. The midfield have plenty of running in them they just dont seem to know how to create space and move into it. Our midfield has no shape whatsoever, theyre allover the place with nobody seeming to know where they should be bar Taylor who is out on the right in the wrong position which is hampering him badly.
March 17, 200917 yr 451/433 is the formation that suites us. problem is, when we play it, morons shout 442. am i stupid in thinking megson only plays 442 as one less thing for fans the moan about?
March 17, 200917 yr we were playing at our best when it was 4-1-4-1 with Davies on the right first time I saw us play 4-4-2 was Hull away and though we won, Davies and Elmander didn't really know what they were doing and getting in each other's way last time I saw us play 4-4-2 was Satdee and we were w???k don't recall many in between the line up over the past few weeks keeps changing in the middle, gardner middle, gardner left, muamba starting, then not starting muamba fer me should start every week as the defensive 1 with his box to box ability he should def be in though not sure megson knows what his best formation and positions are so i certainly don't
March 17, 200917 yr Irrespective of the formation we play if the players dont show for the man in posession and make any runs we will struggle in midfield. Too many players are hiding in the team and dont seem to want to take control. In my view this is indicative of a team playing with no confidence and/or poor tactics. When both Davies and Muamba arrived on the scene for us they were both showing for the ball and a pass to feet. After a few weeks their confidence in posession seems to have disappeared. I think with Davies we have a player who can receive the ball with opposition players around him. He has quick feet and a good touch but he needs balls played into his feet, not 50/50 lumped clearances.

March 17, 200917 yr are you really trying to say that muamba/mc cann, etc show for the ball more than campo, okocha & speed ever did? not having it whiteboy makes a very valid point there. I think Homer may be saying as a unit we show for the ball more now.
March 17, 200917 yr correct yatesy we do. still no where near enough, but at least its in the players minds now. all our player used to face foward waiting for the 2nd ball. nobody EVER went and took the ball from the defence, not even okocha.

Jussi -------- A back of 4 of your choice! -------- Muamba -------- Davies (K), Davies (M), Taylor, Gardner -------- Elmander
March 17, 200917 yr mark davies out for 8 wks That is a big blow. We have no creative midfielder now.
March 17, 200917 yr That is a big blow. We have no creative midfielder now. Do not fear. Tamir Cohen is playing in the reserves tonight.
