Scratch Damage On A Car...

My car was scratched at the weekend and is being taken to the garage tonight. Does anyone have any idea of roughly how long these things take to get done?

The scratch doesn't appear to be too deep but it is across the door and the side panel.

I would imagine the bloke at the agareg will be able to give you more of an idea than anybody on here. It all depends how deep the scratch is, and what he's going to do to repair it.

I'm sure he will, was just curious. Had people tell me anything from 2 days to a week

mine took 4 days, but they had to do an re-spray. My Mums was done in just one day, so like I said, it depends on wha the scratch is actually like

Do you not have a felt tip in a similar colour? That way you could sort it yourself in your lunch hour.

if it's a deep scratch, then remember to fill it in with crayon first though, then go over it with felt tip.

i've known it take 9 and a half weeks

You could always buy a styling kit (ie a go-faster stripe) from halfords and stick it over the scratch.

Parcel tape is a cheaper alternative.

Or, even cheaper: scratch the other side of your car yourself with a rusty nail to make it match.

Don't look at it, that way you'll never know it was there

Can you still get Austin Allegro brown from Halfords? If so, do it yourself.

Is it really scratched?

Maybe one of your eyes is fucked.

3 or 4 days. And in the meantime I've got a fcuking Clio - I look like Donkey KOng in it.

why rusty? is that the industry standard for scratching things?

Completely changing the direction of the thread. I recall reading about a lad who made a claim on his insurance. An insurance inspector went to survey the damage and noticed there was a styling kit fitted. He asked if the car had come with the stripe, the lad told him it hadn't. They refused the claim on the grounds that the car wasn't standard; as was declared during the application process.

Perhaps he has an eyelash thats dropped down over his eye

That must be worth checking, first.

Or he may have to get more sleep and stop tugging all night, lack of sleep can cause wiggly lines in your sight :good:

No wanking frenzies, eyelash in eye, or drunken shenanigans are responsible for seeing a scratch on the car - but thanks for your suggestions!!

My courtesy car doesn't even have a cd player - it's a 57 plate, I didn't think that was possible!?!?

You should've said. I'd have let you borrow that part of my dashboard as I only use the iPod connector in mine.

My iPod connector is built-in in my car, so a cd player would have been tiresome anyway - but nothing at all just takes the piss
