I think that Stockport are actually the tenants of Edgeley Park and Sale Sharks the actual owners of the ground.

 

Stockport are owned by a supporters trust and have done really well on the pitch the last couple of seasons. I hope things turn out ok for them in the end.

Probably not dramatically, he became chairman in 1999, after the move to the Reebok, which caused the debt (significantly)

Natural escalation and inflation have had nothing to do with that eh? Competing in the Premier League paying the necessary wages to such names as Anelka; Okocha; Djorkaeff etc. will be a major contributor.

 

The fact that BWFC have had their best period for 50 years under the current chairmans stewardship should be the fact you are concentrating on.

The issue with the debt is not Gartside as Chairman its the cost needed for a small / medium sized club like Bolton to survive in The Premiership. Who would have thought 8 years ago on that sunny day in Cardiff that our play-off victory would be the start of 8 seasons not out in the top division.

Debt is not a problem at all - as long as you can pay it back.

Sluffy, I would say that Bolton are not able to pay back the loans now - even as a Premiership club. What we are able to do is to keep up with the service costs linked to those loans, e.g. interest payments, Eddie Davies as guarantor etc. If the bank called them all in tomorrow - then it will be goodnight.

Exactly as I said in my post. Whilst you have the income stream coming in to service the mountain of debt and you keep up with the interest payments on it and the guarantor / assets are still in place - then its no problem. Its no different to you and me on our mortgage.

 

If a team gets relegated from The Prem or Sky go bust and the TV money disappears - then that income stream is gone and the banks will call in the loans. Just like us with our ?53M of debt and United with their ?600M+, if we are asked tomorrow to repay the capital part of the debt - then we are in trouble.

They've beaten us this decade yet they are heading to oblivion, we've got another season in the Premier League to look forward to and people still moan 24/7.

We are all Bolton fans, we all have our collected hatred of certain teams and solo hatred hatred against other certain teams but when an English Team decides to call in the administrators it is a sad day for our great game its because of these lower division teams bring about some of our decent players in the game and most of all its were many great managers first got started and then rose to certain greatness or not.

 

It is our grass-roots and its slowly being eroded away - shame :-(
