It Just Does'nt Add Up

Now before I get slaughtered, lets get summat out the way.Megson goes on record at the end of last season, quote,"we played a whole season with the smallest squad in the premiersip, and we have to address that in the summer,we have to add numbers to the squad" So we sign a number of workhorses(at best),and Robinson who is just not prem standards. There lies the problem,Megson is willing to listen to offers for Shittu,Hunt,McCann if rumours are to believed. This again will be the leagues smallest squad, now I am not anti Megson, but I am now questioning my belief in the guy I can put up with the boring football if it means progression year on year, but clearly it aint gonna happen. We desperately need a change at the top withh a forward thinking manager in place who can work within the restraints of our financial dissabilities, who that man is I do not know, but Megson it surely aint.

The only thing that doesnt add up, is what you know about football.

Oh very original and on what basis do you assume that? because I questioned Megsons qualities or just that it is fact based?

I suggest you see what the squad size is AFTER the transfer window as closed and not half the way through it.

I don't doubt for a moment that there will be more players in yet.

if rumours are to believed.

How about not believing the rumours, and wait and see what becomes fact

Fair enough buddy,it's just my confidence is lower this season than any other.

If that's not anti Megson I'm a f?ckin lap dancer (I know I've nicked this off somebody on here :pardon: )

very nice....how much?

Dr Whites

I can see where you're coming from - especially after that quote from Megson

It would appear on the face of it that we've bought players that wouldn't be certain 1st team starters and (if rumours are true) are willing to unload those of a similar ilk; potentially leaving us not far off where we started pre-season and certainly not greatly strengthened in quality (and if those rumoured to be leaving go, numbers)

Now whilst I agree with Sluffy that (unlike Dr Whites) I'm confident that we won't end up in that predicament, it could happen - look at previous transfer windows - "we'll go with what we've got" a well quoted phrase

Basically, it's a bit harsh to be slaughtering the Doctor

Bullies. You all sicken me

you know, something other than the mirror or tribalshite?

we have signed 4 players and let 1 go, who was nt here last season anyway.

there are rumours that we will listen to offers for 3 players, one who hardly played last year (hunt) one who played only when others were injured (shittu) and mccann. rumours. If we also signed every player we are rumoured to be signing our squad would have more people in than wigaan town hall square when pies r us has a sale on.

I am not over the moon with our signings was ecpecting more but things are nowhere near as dark as you are claiming. you can not claim to have a factual argument when your starting point is rumours.

I am not anti Megson,but...

Wow, what you are about to say must be completely unbiased. You must have spent lots of time carefully considering the facts, and studying the evidence and surely the conclusion you have come to must be totally objective as you have distanced yourself from any preconceptions that others may have....

Nah nowt to do with that - the one where Megson quoted about it being a problem that we had the smallest squad in the division last year.

yes and as yet hes not got shut of anybody, has he

or screamed he wants rid of anybody?

tbh he might have but i just dont read the papers

I never said he had got shut yet, but if you read my post I said it was a distinct possibility

Megson has been quoted of saying this about Shittu "There is quite a bit of interest in Danny and we will see if it materialises into anything more concrete." .....so he has made noises about offloading (and rightly so in my opinion in this case).

But remember Megson's quote about turning up at the Emirates with only 2 or 3 available subs? Well if we are to offload "like for like" from the players we've brought in, then it's entirely possible...

That said, there's a long way to go yet.

Shittu will be gone because he has asked to leave for first team football no point keeping unhappy players, Hunt has been acting like a twat so he may as well go. Im almost certain Mccann wont go and im sure there is more signings on the way before the end of the window. You say we sign a number of workhorses and mention just Robinson? Thats only one!

I don't get the argument.

Megson said what he said about the small squad & emphasised it with some of his bench selections. Surely that's fact.

Last season's squad included 3 loan players who've all been released, and one player not really in the squad who's been sold. How often they actually played isn't the issue - we're talking squad size and the loanees all had top-level experience elsewhere.

So far we've brought 4 players in, maybe 5; Lee will have to settle into the Prem over some months (probably), Robinson is a bit of a question mark.

Indications are that 1 player may still be sold (Shittu); maybe Hunt too, but that's unsure.

So purely in numbers terms SO FAR there are doubts as to whether the new squad will be significantly bigger (or bigger at all) and if it will be any better quality.

We won't know the answers until 1st September, but given it's the 6th August it's not unreasonable if some fans feel a bit uneasy.

I'd say you was in a pretty big minority then

Is it only me who Robbinson aside who to be fair will do a job squadwise is happy with the way that this transfer window is going and am very optimistic as to to how it will progress?

It is a known scientific fact that gingers cannot carry out managerial tasks efficiently.

For that reason I am out and taking my bedsheet with me.

Is it only me who Robbinson aside who to be fair will do a job squadwise is happy with the way that this transfer window is going and am very optimistic as to to how it will progress?

It must be ringer. Because how the fu*k the ginger one will change our style of play when up to now he has only brought in defenders.

Where is the attacking flair midfield player and the striker.
