barryk32 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 How does your mind work? Do you think world class players are banging on the door and Megson is turning them away or something? We can only sign someone if they want to play for us, and their club accepts what we're willing to offer. Do you think Megson has just sat on his backside for the last few months twiddling his thumbs? I thought this the other day, folk think he's been sat in his office power wanking since May.
bolton va va Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Dear Mods & general Nazis, Just my 2penneth worth, but could we possibly add Mugson/Smegson/Garslime etc to the word filter to save posters the embarrasment of sounding like a complete cock? Thanks in advance. NB - Word Monitor Please don"t -I"m new here and it helps me to make a quick judgement of the writer .!!!
Guest westmidswhite Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I thought this the other day, folk think he's been sat in his office power wanking since May. You are spot on there; ever since he got the green light to bring his buddy Robinson in to the club
Sweep Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 If Nolan does sign, I hope he realises he won't be able to play in the league cup final for us, as he cup tied himself last night
Spider Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 At the very least, we all know what we get with Nobby. Can't say that about anyone we bring in from overseas.

DutchWhites Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 To be honest if Nolan did come back there would be no way it would quieten the anti-Megson brigade. In fact it would enflame the situation even more so as it would be seen as a step backwards and also be seen, in their eyes, that Megson cannot attract any decent player to our team and has to rely on the players he is friendly with. Is Mario Jardel still playing football (oops I mean warming up the subs bench)? Or how about (and this is quite a good idea!!!!) - RICHARD SNEEKES!!!! ? Anyone bar the pie & chips man himself - PERLEEEEASE!

The big issue to me is what Megson (and some on here) see a a decent player (thats we can afford and will come and play at Bolton) and someothers who seem to have a unrealistice idea who is a descent player (and we cant afford and would rather play anywhere else other the Bolton)

DutchWhites Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) Please don't cut & paste. why not? Its mine from another forum - just thought I would use it here as well! PLus last three lines I did try some humour - if it didn't work then apologies. Edited August 27, 2009 by DutchWhites
JimmyRiddle Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) The big issue to me is what Megson (and some on here) see a a decent player (thats we can afford and will come and play at Bolton) and someothers who seem to have a unrealistice idea who is a descent player (and we cant afford and would rather play anywhere else other the Bolton) My problem is he never seems to indicate any incling towards players outside his comfort zone, even when he buys a Korean, he bangs on about their superb work ethic!!! Even the players he has brought in, most have needed the recommendations of other players already here before joining, indicating to me they would otherwise have not been interested at all. So I do not know who is available, or who would come to us, but I do know I want a progressive signing, someone whi can move the team forward, both literally and figuratively! but no one can escape the fact that this seems to be an ever decreasing pool of players with Megson and Co. at the helm... Spider Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 On reflection, and before I demolish some lager and red wine, Megson's comments about negativity have sown a seed of doubt. It feels as though he is anticipating a backlash once the deadline passes. Possibly all the glum 'tards on here are getting to me. However, I shall leave any opinions until after Monday night.
Smiffs Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I thought this the other day, folk think he's been sat in his office power wanking since May. OK then, how did Allardyce manage it? No decent player in the world worth his salt would come and play for us once they'd spoken to Megson and his miserable monotone manner.

barryk32 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 See Panorama Careful, you'll get sued putting things like that

Do you think Megson has just sat on his backside for the last few months twiddling his thumbs? Thats bollox - we tend to get "it's a results business" as an excuse for dire performances well ok fine it is a results business and results to date in the transfer market are not good enough regardless of what time he gets up in a morning - we don't want ronaldo or messi people aren't daft Tuncay would have been a start as an example but oh hang on we'd no chance once that massive club Stoke had stepped in!
tkonion Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 When Nobby left I believe it was good for both the club and him. He hadn't lived up to the standards he'd set himself and appeared to have gone stale, a change of scenery was required to shake him up. If we can get him back on loan or on a permanent deal for substantially less than we sold him for and sell McCann to Pompey I think this would be a good bit of Businness
YATESY Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 This is the final straw for me - Megson is very close to losing my support. At first I thought this was a made up Mirror story but for Megson to come out with those comments is a bloody joke. Over the last 2 or 3 seasons Nolan has been a poor shadow of his former-self. We rubbed our eyes with glee when Newcastle gave us ?4M for him in January - many on here offered to drive him there ourselves to make sure he went. He has a had a decent start to the season but this is in the fizzy pop league for fcuk sake! With 4 days of the transfer window left, to be wasting any time on looking to resign Nolan is just a big fcuking joke and shows how Megson has lost the plot. The money is tight after spending so much on average defenders but its a creative midfield player and goalscorer we need. Even if Nolan ends up being the only possible signing on deadline day - who the fcuk do you leave out of midfield to give him a game? Sorry Gary, but this is the straw that finally broke the back of my support for you.

Homer, stop being rational and talking sense. Do even Megson's biggest critics believe he's been spending the last few weeks trying to tie up a deal for Nolan? Just because you don't know about the players he's interested in doesn't mean he's not spending hours each and everyday trying to sign players up.
YATESY Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 muamba, davis and nolan sounds like a respectable midfield to me. still not as mobile as id like, but certainly better than what we have now. and where in that lot do you fit Taylor, M Davies, K Davies, Gardner, Lee etc - all of which are higher in the pecking order for a start than Nolan? Its a bloody joke and a sad indication that either Megson has been mislead as to how much money he has available to spend this summer or he has pissed it all up a tree on average defenders and now he is trying to scratch round for any loan signings going. Wonder who will be the Macka-Packa deadline day signing this time?
jimmyjoojar Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 and where in that lot do you fit Taylor, M Davies, K Davies, Gardner, Lee etc - all of which are higher in the pecking order for a start than Nolan? Its called a squad, granted its a novel concept to us as we've not much of one in the past. Not a great squad of midfielders admittedly but an improvment on last season. I'm not saying Nolan would be the answer, but the reality is its no risk. If Nolan was our only addition come the window shutting then I'd say it was fair comment to question Megson's transfer dealings.
