You'd think a typed letter might be acceptable?

I'm no sure he could win on this matter.

Typed - faceless

Hand written - badly spelt (not a sign of lacking intelligence btw.)

I understand she's upset, I can't imagine what it's like ot lose a child, but I'm not sure this is the right way to have a go at him.

so she goes moaning to the Sun....

so she goes moaning to the Sun....

probably got a nice cheque off of them too

I can't begin to comprehend what this mother is going through but I believe she's made a massive mistake that she will come to regret.

So he's fucked up his spelling. Fair enough.

The fact that the British Prime Minister (who I have little time for) has taken time out to write personally shows the intentions were sincere and genuine.

I accept she's going through hell but trying to humiliate the fella is a bit poor for me.

Brown is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

I'm no fan of his but this not bowing at the centotaph thing too, it sounds like a media witch hunt is beginning.

Brown and labour are finished in my opinion(not gloating) it just seems to be one thing after another, momentum is building and every slightest thing is being highlighted. Agree with what has been said above, at least he wrote it himself but somebody should have checked and double checked. I can just imagine his face when he was informed of the bollock........Oh for fucks sake...........

As a slight sidenote would The Sun have run the story if they were still backing Brown/Labour?

RIP to the poor soldier killed.

Apparently, the Sun have a transcript of the phone call between the mother & Gordon Brown & will publish it tomorrow.

I have no reason to doubt her motives & reasons, I just hope she doesn't regret being used by the newspaper in a cheap point winning way.

In her defence NB she is greiving and I presume she is not thinking straight and wants to lash out, she must be so full of anger. i agree with you that she is probably being used by The Sun for political reasons which if you think about it is 100 times worse that what Brown did. He made a mistake but thats what it was a mistake, The Sun are cyniacally using this poor woman, the more I think about it the angrier Iam getting, this is someones real life, real misery and suffering it shouldnt be used as a political football.

I suppose I shouldnt be surprised by it though and that is the really sad thing.

But why record the phone call?

But why record the phone call?

Planning a bootleg lp?

Sorry Traf just slipped out.

Good point though

Irrelevant or the morality of the conflict, and as I said, I cannot understand her loss, but that should've been a private conversation & yes she's grieving but I have to say, I think what she/The Sun has done is morally wrong.

This is journalism in it's lowest form

100% correct, sums it up perfectly. I have some sympathy for the mother but blame the Sun totally.

couldn't agree more with all posts on this thread.

unfortuneately, most other papers will stoop just as low.

As the saying goes, "He should have a long spoon that sups with the devil"

'New Labour' licked arse with the Sun when times were good, now the rat of the English press has changed their support, its goodnight for Brown and Labour.

This story stinks but what do you expect from the gutter press.

I must be wrong but I thought that if you were recording a conversation with someone you had to tell them at the outset.

Thats only if its going to be used for "training purposes"!!

Heard the story this morning on Radio 5. She had the call on loud speaker so her friend could listen record it on her Blackberry.

Now, I'm not calling Gordon Brown thick here but when I am having a call with somebody who has the phone on loud speaker its bloody obvious by the noise and feedback. Surely our PM must have realised this?

even if she did have the phone on speaker how was GB supposed to know it was being recorded?

The in laws always have the phone on speaker

Maybe he's deaf and dumb as well as blind.

I feel sorry for him.

I'm backing our PM on this.

Making him look a fool across every level of the media is such a lowdown thing to do.

FFS. Pull together everybody!

He's made a mistake - a f?ckin' typo - but let's not forget - he's blind in one eye!!!

Sick of hearing about it this morning.... again!

respect the dead and mock the living

what a fcuked up world

What he said

This unfortunate mother will lose all credibility just because what she is doing lacks any sort of moarlity. The Sun know this but will use her to get at Gordon Brown and Labour. As soon as things start to get nasty for her they'll start off by playing the mourning mother bit and then they'll drop her to try and ressurect her own credibilty.
