on the loop.

Lisbon didn't go tit's up there was a terrorist among the ranks that ruined it ala ginger prick, he could have gone there and had a real go at it instead he took the reserves and had no intention of progressing.

That's way over the top.

i was furious about the fact he dared to say, "i enjoyed taking the reserve team around europe"

he actually doesnt still to this day realise how much pain he caused the club and fans with his whole lack of care towards the uefa cup

its not every day that happens!! we should have treasured those days, i'd put my house on us never seeing that competition ever again now unfortunately...

bollocks

ive said it before and ill say it again, anyone who thought a strong team would turn up in lisbon is not on this planet.

pretty much every other club/manager would do and has done exactly the same.

thats the uefa cup for you, deal with it.

ive said before he PR was shite but that shouldnt have been the be all and end all.

if some fans want the manager to stick his tongue up their arse then thats up to them.

we should have no real issue with his signings, because in the main they were reasonable enough.

we now have a younger, english side. which has cost more than any other team weve had, but thats a sign of the time. especially if you want english players.

the only problem i have with megson is that our current position in the league.

for that reason and that reason alone, megson probably deserved to get the sack.

it done with now anyway, lets hope coyle build on what megson did and move the club forward.

"Wonder which league his next job offer will come from."

Can't see that idiot managing a top flight club ever again, I would imagine any chaiman that enjoys a good relationship with the fans would avoid him at all costs.

Furthermore, if the people setting the agenda had wanted us to progress in the UEFA or even give it a go, Gary Megson wouldn't have got the job. He probably wouldn't have even been on the list of 30.

He was brought in to keep us up and that's exactly what he did.

If you want to blame anyone for Lisbon - blame Fat Sam for deserting us, combine that with Sammy Lee for signing a load of shit players, blame Phil Gartside, blame Eddie Davis for not being a billionaire.

Much as I hate his bleating, you can understand why he's hanging on in the public eye - once he's out of the limelight, he's yesterday's man.

Doing a Roy Evans if you like.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him as a guest on Sky on Sunday

correct. he may even tell a few porkies along the way.

Hopefully he actually does realise his mistakes, but he's hardly going to highlight them on telly.

its good PR i guess. which is crazy.

im sure he'll learn from the experience and maybe do things differently next time.

He wouldn't dare set foot in the ground on the first day of a new manager.

He would for Sky's appearance money

seeing as we're still paying him, he'll be behaving himself

thats probably the only thing out of the entire paragraph you just wrote that had any relevence to what i said..

you dont know my views on megson, i was a supporter but that was one of his major downfalls.

and when you say 'thats the uefa cup for you, deal with it.' thats the attitude of teams who know for a FACT that they are likely to have the chance to have another crack in that competition, something we dont, and something that at the time i think we took for granted after 4 consecutive top 8 finishes

sorry, i didnt realise i could only speak when spoken to.

sorry, i didnt realise i could only speak when spoken to.

ok, i appologies

what about what i said though?

I loved every minute of my trips to Munich,Madrid and Lisbon.

Gutted that we lost in Lisbon but GM's remit was to keep us in the Prem that season and he did just that.

Re-interview he didn't appreciate any BWFC fans. Not everyone booed him.

However what's this gardening leave lark about. He was sacked so why don't we pay him off and have done with it.

He's come across as a bitter man with a big chip on his shoulder. We've moved on and he has to with a big payoff.

I'd like to think of myself as pretty fashionable but those bracelets, I just didn't get that at all.

ive seen it now and he dose come across as a prick :good:

He's a bitter man

I don't like him and I believe we were correct in getting rid of him

But

I would be bitter too if I was him

It was simply a relationship doomed from the start

Agree with alll of that & the fact that if you actually went to Lisbon did you honestly go there expecting tp see our 'best' eleven ?

Megsons main problem was his inability to convince the doubters (not the anti-Megson camp) that he actually gave a f**k

about the club .

His remit in that first season was to keep us up which he did sucessfully & I for one will always be gratefull to him for that .

His pr however was abysmal a small example of this was when a friend of mine (not a diehard but a regular since the prem ) sent him an

email before the LIsbon game suggesting that if he played a weakened team & lost the fans would never forgive him it was one fans point of

view right or wrong & as it turned out very valid.

Megson could probably got away without replying ( like Garside) or he could have politely took the p**s instead he called the fan an 'iignorant pillock'

which at the time I found very amusing because it was partly true however my mate has'nt been to the ground since so there you have Gary in a nutshell

honest but also a very divisive figure.

he's getting paid each week/month so that if/when he gets another job, we'll be able to reduce our payments to him

maybe we couldnt afford a balloon payment?

I very much doubt most of this happend.

Those were exactly my thoughts on hearing his interview yesterday

he's getting paid each week/month so that if/when he gets another job, we'll be able to reduce our payments to him

I still don't understand this. Surely Megson should be happy with this? Why did he have the hump about it and say this isn't the way a premier league club should behave? And why are we stil paying him on gardening leave?

Gets paid off - money due paid there and then.

Drip fed every week - Megson gets a new job, Bolton stop paying him or only pay the difference between his new wage and what he was on at Bolton.

Hats off to Gartside again on this one.
