Portsmouth Points Deduction

just found out that if portsmouth go into administration, not only do they get docked the 10 points (think its 10) but every team thats beaten or drawn against them gets the points removed, like wise if they got beaten they get the points back.

i can't see how this is in anyway fair, but its the FA that make the rules, does anyone know anything about this?

So teams that win or draw get 0 points, but teams that lost 'get the points back'. Methinks you've heard some rubbish there.

Its if they get wound up that everyone loses the points. If they go into administration they lose 10 points but still play their remaining fixtures.

what you have said does nt make sense.

if they go into admin but fulfill their fixtures then all results stand.

if they fail to fulfill their fixtures then maybe all results are nullified so games against pompey are cancelled, if you have beat them or drawn your points will go down, if you lost to them your points will be unaltered.

just because it does nt help us does nt make it unfair.

Didn't this get discussed weeks ago?

I think Ani explained it well.

ani, or anybody

will pompey have right to appeal if it goes against 'em?

I think with any winding up order you will get a period to prove to the court that there is money coming in. But if your arguement is that the 4th arab of the year is going to better than the last 3 not sure it will help.

The club does have assets so an administrator should be abel to keep the club running till the end of the season. the Inland Revenue used be these preferred creditors so if someone went bust they got their money first (think we disucssed on here before) now they are just treated as everyone else, this means they are less liekly to give a company time, hence so many businesses going to the wall.

Any administrator has a duty to get best value for the assets, if the club just folded the assets (players) would potentially be able to walk away from their contracts so the administrators will do everything to keep club running. This would be best option for us.

All this is based on my undertsanding of the rules so maybe total bollocks.

hmrc will not wind up pompey!

double fucking fact with a big fat fukcin cherry on top!

pompey will agree a payment plan secured against assets and all will be 'rosey'

Most stupid post on here for many a year.

Find me a club who have gone into administration where the points teams have taken off them have been removed too!

Yes if they move from adminstration to liquidation or full winding-up but administration NEVER!

As others have said, HMRC will not wind-up Portsmouth - as they will get bugger all then under the stupid "Super Creditor" status that exists in football.

What I hope does come out of a legal case sooner or later is the removal of the "Super Creditor" status and all creditors of football clubs wait in line for their money like everyone else.

What a load of shit

Dont be concerned, Administration means Pompey lose points and nobody else.

did the teams who played palace this season get docked points when they went into administration?

No.

did the teams who played palace this season get docked points when they went into administration?

No.

According to SSN earlier, we COULD drop to 18th, West Ham will go bottom and Liverpool will swap places with Arsenal in the League if Pompey go bust, which it looks like they will probably get 28 days to find help.

correct, if football clubs are now businesses, (like we are consistantly being told) they should be made to obide by the same rules of every other business in the country.

Just been saying this on Talksport (not the best of sources, I know)

What a load of shit

Perhaps somebody who knows something about insolvency law could confirm whether you can't go into admin if a winding up petition is passed against you.

I thought that it was too bloody late.

Obviously I'm not but the discussion on 5 Live yesterday implied that they would have a window opportunity to go into administration.

I like the idea that you can barter with the taxman. Maybe I should try it?

Portsmouth have just been declared Insolvent

What does that mean girls?

talksport aren't reporting that

hmrc are apparently pushing hard

they want immediate winding up or a 'very short' adjournemnt cos pompey reckon they have 2 'serious' interested parties

in view of the fact they've had 4 or 5 owners already, why would the revenue think any new owners would change anything

its always worth a discussion, but it very much depends what kinda of person you get on the other end of the phone.

The Sky Sport reporter stood outside the court is reporting

Inland Revenue owed ?11.5M

Postsmouth is insolvent

Portsmouth are claiming that they have two buyers on the table and want a 28 day ajornment but even if this happens they are still insolvent

The HMRC have had a busy morning, also trying to get Cardiff and Southend to cough up the dosh...

They have 7 days to find 11.5 million so realistically they need 7 days to find a new owner, who is willing to take on all the debt.

It's a lot of money for what essentially is now a Championship club. It ain't happening IMO.
