Coyles Away Form................

I cannot be the only one who has noticed that his away from is becoming a farce.

Approaching 20 games for us and Burnley in the Prem and 1 win, 2 draws and the rest are defeats. 20 games or so gives a fair indication as to the success or failure of a system.

Under Coyle Bolton have failed to score at Liverpool, Wigan, Blackburn, Sunderland, Spurs and Man City. For some of the performances Megson would have been bloody slaughtered yet Coyle comes out and backs the team and tells everyone how unlucky we were. We cannot be unlucky every game! 4-0 defeats against a team that havent won for 3 months are totally unacceptable and he needs to say so!

Can he not see that 4-4-2 does not work. Playing free flowing attacking football does not work. Or should i say it doesn't work if you are Bolton Wanderers and not blessed with the talent of the top clubs.

Box to box we are pretty, but time after time but never ever any end result.

The time has come to change, forget your principles and change the formation for away games and go 4-5-1.

Its about results not pretty football which consistently fails to get results.

Change now - before its too late...............

Quite correct i didn't - i hated the man to be honest as most did. That however was more about PR.   I have nothing against Coyle though but cannot help feeling he is very very naive and lives in

Oh do fuck off

To be fair there is some truth in there...

As evidence playing CYL in central midfield for the last 30 mins did seem a tad naive!! If we are permitted to state such blaspehmy..

442 worked away at West Ham did it not?

Losing 4-0 is dissapointing but i do fear you're over reacting to losing to a team that should a damn sight higher in the the table than they actually are.

Im quite happy with the way we are playing id be more concerned if were not creating anything, we are struggling to put the ball in the net,m last night we had the chances to equalise and didnt, Muamba went off and the game changed again. The result does not reflect the performance

Oh do fuck off

so, which bits do you disagree with

and for the record captainmed never had a good word to say for megson

take Darren Bent out of the equation and Sunderland are/were no better than us.

2 be fair i think hes just had shit defenders at both clubs. Get decent defenders in i dont see the problem in playing 4 4 2 away. Even when we've played 4 5 1 in away games this season we've still looked shaky at the back

take Darren Bent out of the equation and Sunderland are/were no better than us.

they were far, far worse!

For last nights game Sunderland decision to splash serious cash on a proven premiership goalscorer paid off and thats the only reason they won the game, so Im not too disheartened about it. If we get beat 4-0 on Saturday then Id be worried.

I didn't think we played that badly.

I've seen worse.

Having to chase the game from very early on didn't help.

I hope Muamba is fit for Saturday.

Wasn't Coyle playing 4-5-1 with some success in Burnley's promotion winning year

seems a bit of an overreaction

were the best team even at 2-0 I thought

but as said against West Ham

that midfield is too lightweight, not sure 4-5-1 would help, it's not numbers, it's a hard bastud we need in the middle

I have nothing against Coyle though but cannot help feeling he is very very naive and lives in an idealistic bubble. Tactically he is not as good as Megson but motivationally i believe is much much better, or so we are let to believe.

We all know how we would like to play, but its a results business at the end of the day and you must work with what you have. For teams with limited ability (IE. Not in the top eight) then 4-4-2 doesn't work away from home and i feel that his results for Burnley and Bolton away from home this season tell the whole story (5 points out of 60?).

I must stress i am talking about Away formation/set up.

but we'd just won away from home by playing 442, why would coyle (or any manager) change a winning team and tactics?

If we hadn't got a result at West Ham I would've gone with 451.

The problem as i see it is that he never will change to 4-5-1.

Let us log the number of away points the team gets from now to the end of the season.

IMO it will be minimal playing this way.

Did we have 5 midfielders available last night?

Until the Muamba injury last night we were by far the better side, plenty of attacing threat with no end product, Klasnic has to start with Elmander for me to truely judge Coyle's 442 formation, home or away

barring the injury, suspension or death of KD, that simply isn't going to happen in the forseeable future though

Im aware of that but its just my view of hoew things will improve. Elmander looked really good last night at Sunderland, Neat touches and good link up play, just needed a striker playing off the last man up there with him.

The sooner the fans accept thet Emo isnt going to be prolific the better, his support to a "striker" such as Klasnic could be invaluable

Elmander was about as dangerous as a toy gun last night. He didnt have a decent effort on goal or create a chance for anybody else. Lets just face it he isnt a premiership striker, hes missed plenty of chances in the run of games hes had that Klasnic would of buried. He cant even strike the ball cleanly, he scuffs every fucking shot! He wouldnt look good if he had fucking Rooney alongside him.

would this be a bad time to post his goal for sweden?

When was the last time he struck a shot that clean for us? Fuck Sweden, we need goals for Bolton.

Had the wolves defence not had teleportation devices he'd have scored the tap in from davo's weak effort.

the lad's getting them on target just not getting that little bit of luck that's sometimes needed, such as keeprs being wrong footed (for his near post header against Wet Spam) or a jammy deflection. his finishing at times does leave a fuck load of room for improvement but i remain convinced he's not as poor a player as he's looking at the mo.

Didn't Elmander have our only meaningful shot on target last night? The one where the rebound fell to Lee?
