Recent Filums I've Watched

Book of Eli - Denzel Washington - took two attempts to watch it all the way through - a bit of a duff Mad Max type film. Watchable. 4/10

Green Zone - Matt Damon - enjoyed it, always like films based out in Middle East, etc. 7/10

Planet 51 - was enjoying it til I nodded off, kids liked it - must be good. 6/10

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - see above - 6/10

Good Will Hunting - Matt Damon/Robin Williams - look, there was fook all else on this Saturday just gone, never seen it before - quite enjoyed - the scene were Robin Williams was going on about his late wife farting in bed had me in tears - half decent. Oh, and Minnie Driver looked far better than I can ever remember. 7/10

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - its Swedish so no famous actors/actresses - great thriller - didn't bother me that it was in subtitles great revenge scene on the pervy Probation Officer- looking forward to the 2nd in the trilogy in the next week or so - well worth the watch and highly recommended. 9/10

That's me, Jonathan Woss, over and out.

But you're generally not sitting in silence at the cinema, you're responding to the film along with everyone else there. If you want to sit in silence, cinemas are open long enough hours to enable you to avoid the times when there are going to be a load of other people there.

i actually used to do that

was the only one in there when i watched batman begins, sin city, devils rejects and others

think other people put me off, and not being able to sit on the end of a row which is just a thing of mine, or having to sit still for 2 hours - all these things are not an issue at home

anyway, i'm not going back in a hurry so just drop it will you

am downloading and watching foxcatcher next

Enjoy the cinema. Me and wifey try to get there every wednesday evening Reel cinemas in Burnley do orange but also have their own range of discounts on tue and wed plus a generous student discount.

I do both downloads and cinema. Obviously prefer the cinema but like others have said it can be fucking annoying when the pop corn crunchers / sweet packet rattlers / cola slurpers cant sit still for 2 hours without the need to shove 1000+ calories  of pure shit down their gobs!

Reel is awful, mate.

Alreet when its quiet out of the school holidays and we try to get there late afternoon. Screens are pretty much ok as is sound. Not as fancy as other well know chains but as its just under 10 mins drive we dont mind it.

Fair point.

Each time I've been, it's been full of screaming twats children.

My 3 experiences of the cinema at Trafford Centre.....

The Hobbit we had Asians talking on the back row through half the film.

Interstellar we had teenagers talking and pissing about on their phones throughout the film.

Taken 3 we had to sit apart due to the ticket printing machine not having any paper in it and having to try and jump a huge queue with no tickets and jib our way in.

Been told to try the Lowry instead. Or I'll go back to Cineworld at Parrswood.

when it was reds cinema and there wasn't as much going on up there, it was dead all the time, which is obvs a good thing

but, it was called reds cinema and had utd players on the wall and shit, it just felt wrong

Birdman was a bit weird, kept me interested but not sure if I actually enjoyed it or not.

It cost a shade over 15 quid each.  :glare:

I liked it but i can understand why opinion is divided. Kermode thought it was a bit pretentious but i think they were actually taking the piss out of pretentious actors.

Try Cineworld Ashton

American sniper. - Good tribute to Chris Kyle. Clint Eastwood does a nice job of keeping it grounded without any jingoism. Enjoyed it. 8.5/10.

'Once Upon a Time in America' - One of the worst films ever, disgusting and pointless.

don't remember it being disgusting but I do remember being massively dissapointed in it

Best gangster film ever made imo. Takes about 4 watches to get it though.

The bit were he rapes his life long crush in the back of a car after taking her out for a romantic films is well boss.

Terrible film.

well boss? lost me there.

Simple rape scene filmed in 1983 and had to be shot in a way so the film could be on general release.  It was a small part of a 3 1/2 hour film.

Sergio Leone captures 1910 -1935 New York brilliantly. Film is very artistic and atmospheric and he was one of the first to pull off the telling a complex story over three different time periods: 1910's 1930's and late 1960's. James Woods and  Robert Di Niro are immense as leads and Jennifer Connelly makes her screen debut as the young Deborah.

Pays yer money and takes yer choice, but for me its the finest gangster film ever made with probably Ennio Morricone's best music score to boot!

Its shit

Worth doing if you live in Manchester, sign up for a Spinningfields card which gets you discount at AMC, combine it with orange Wednesdays and you're only looking at a couple of quid each to watch a film

Imitation Game - cracking film - 8/10

Aye! Hoping that theory of everything is as good tonight.

I'd say Imitation Game just about shades Theory Of Everything

but that's like being a 9/10 as opposed to 8.5

they are both very good

Aye! Hoping that theory of everything is as good tonight.

Watched an hour and 40 of "Unbroken" last night. It's at a steady 9/10 so far. Hope the last 40 mins is as good.

Theory of Everything. 8/10. Some great acting performances.

Not the story I thought it was going to be but discovered after it is based on the book written by his first wife. He is a randy little fucker though! Never knew that Maxine Peake, who plays his second wife, was a cowhead!
