Wages

Featured Replies

Random way of getting to a topic like this but, was watching some tat on BBC 3 about weddings (with the mrs of course im engaged and anything that even mentiones such things get pencled in) our very own Sam Ricketts was on it as his wife to be was the token wag. They supposedly had an all singing all dancing wedding costing ?60,00 which to be far as far as footballers weddings go seemed a bit low key and looked not to far off a traditional do!

Anyways with the exeption of the big ones that are well publised like Petrov ?35,000, jussi and Super Kev ?28,000 a week what do you think the rest of the squad are on per week? we were trying to figure this out in pub t'other day i figured the average wage at our club would be in region of ?18,000 what you all think or is there someone in the know?

I could make some up if you want as that's what most people seem to do.

HTH.

nobody knows

a big chunk of our players wages are bonuses

the annual accounts will show the total wage bill, but i think even that includes admin staff

its all a minefield

say for example petrov signs on a free, he may well receive a signing on fee

do you show that spread over his contract or as a one off

players even get bonuses for staying the full term of their deal

it really aint worth worrying about, imo

indeed

nicky hunt reckoned to be on 28k a week, which he may well have been if we'd won the league and he'd captained england to win the world cup

Okocha's "weekly" bonus was about 10% of his salary. He was earning between ?20,000 - ?22,000 when he signed for us.

The reason we were talking about it was with regards to players like Mccann, i thought that he was a good squad player and if bonuses made up the chunk of his wages and he was on ?10,000 basic for example, then that seems fair for a squad player at a club our size? but there was the arguement put forward that very few of our players would be on a lot more than that amount. Which i couldnt see as i assumed that the average would be much higher.

just remembered there is one person on here who was itk about a few wages 5 or so years back

assuming it all went in to one account, like

That a cryptic post or an attempt to call them out ??

i know for a fact that players get signing on fees every time they sign a contract with a new/existing club.

they can chose to recieve this fee upfront of spread over the contract. (not sure what happens if the player leaves before all is paid though)

there is a lot of talk about wages, but not a lot about signing on fees. the signing on fees can be as much as an extra years salary, probalby more.

i know a certain footballer, who was on 7k a week at a championship club, his signing on fee (renewal of contract ) was 400k over 3 years and the payment was spread.

The Steven Ireland to Villa deal was held up over his signing on fee as it was spread over his contract, City didnt want to pay up

Some balloon was on here a few months ago reckoning McCann was on ?40K per week. I've heard people spout all manner of daft amounts they reckon players are on. A bloke I was talking to at a match last season reckoned Shittu was on ?38K per week, I asked how he knew that, he said "My mate told me"

As stated by somebody above, we'll never really know how much the players are on, and even if we did know, would it matter, is it even remotoely interesting?

You missed a 0 off, the price of the wedding was ?60,000

Now, I know I'm a tad careful with money and not keen on spending it, but is ?60,000 not far off the cost of a traditional wedding? Really? For normal people?

They manage to put a decent do together for about ?12k when the bloke organises it on the other BBC3 programme (Don't Tell The Bride) and I was thinking that was a more than generous amount to splash out bearing in mind it didn't include the honeymoon.

yes it was ?60,000 and of course thats ridiculas amount but i was saying its closer to the norm which (god help me i believe is ?15-20) as opposed to weddings in the mags of top end footballers which reportdley cost millions.

60k is still an expensive do imo.

i thought average wedding was about 20k

on Celebrity Four Weddings last week, some plymouth/peterborough (one of the p-teams anyway i wasn't paying that much attention) player got married to a boobie model and that cost ?100k

I saw that, it was covered by "Hello" or "OK" magazine though, so I suppose they'll have picked most of the bill up. The bird in question was Nicola Mclean (somebody will no doubt produce a picture), I don't know what he was called though, but I'm sure he is a Peterborough player. I think she's only famous for getting her busters out and for being on "I'm a Celebrity" a few years ago

Yes you are correct, and they are tremendous bazookas and I could happily spend a good hour or two sandwiched between them, but she's a right gobshite. And if that was a ?100k wedding they were well and truly ripped off.

Anyway, Campo was on about ?12k a week during his time and thats a factodiddlymondo.

Not me, but

I know for 100% fact that JJ's "extras" were paid into a Channel Islands account and Her Majesty's beancounters couldn't touch it.

His wife was, and still is, a miserable cunt an' all.

And that's still flippin' expensive. Another good reason not to marry.

There is a nob on our site who if presented with this on a plate would demand to see the Lifting Cert for those chains before he'd even think about tearing her pants off with his teeth.
