However we desperately need some more defenders. With Danny Shittu and Andy O'Brien gone in the past few months we are down to 2 centre backs who both aren't too far away from a suspension.

 

Ricketts has played there but I would much rather see him at full-back.

 

With JLS and Steinsson injured too we had to play Marcos Alonso who is only 19 and is one for the future, not now.

I would suggest maybe Jonathan Woodgate on loan - spurs want to send him out on loan to get match fit and he's very good centre back when fit. If he does get crocked then we can send him back to spurs. Win Win. Apparently it's only championship clubs like Leeds and Cardiff that have been linked with him.

 

Also there is Curtis Davies (yes I know another Villa player but the last 2 we got have done ok) who has been on loan at Leicester. He is rumoured to cost around ?2.5m and he seemed to be a good prospect a few years back. He's relatively young, english and has prem experience.

 

Those two would be my shout. Other names not on the radar would be Swansea City captain Ashley Williams who hasnt signed a new deal and could go in the summer. According to SSN he has been linked with some prem clubs.

 

Another player who i think would be good is Wes Brown. Very good experienced centre back for club and country who seems to be 5th choice CB and about 4th choice RB for United. He wouldn't have to travel far at all and in comparison to other United players wouldn't be on high wages.

Sure he signed a new deal at Utd on ?80k per week recently. Even Utd.fans were amazed at that salary.
