Daniel Sturridge

Having a medical with us as we speak.

Will be happy if it all goes through! Probably a safer option than Vela too!

  • I neither know nor care who is doing what within the club, I've never claimed to. Fuck me, I bet you never slept last night.   Even if I did, I wouldn't be making a cock of myself.

4 plus davies or 5 including davies

its as broad as its long

but neither will happen, as you say

i'm thinking our top scorer will start with the undroppable captain and sturridge will take his place on the hour to leave us with the prolific kevin davies and a pacy novice

I imagine that's exactly what will happen

Tell you what though, if Sturridge isn't starting regularly within a month you will see toys exiting pram from him

And me, barring a sudden upturn in fortunes in front of goal.

Wheater and Cahill at centre back for me, with Ricketts ahead of Steinsson at right back.

Knight needs a sit down.

Bang on for me. If Coyle used Wigan at home to pick Cahill's CB partner for Wolves it will be Wheater. Ricketts is the best right back we have without doubt imo.

Cahill isn't your typical burly centre half is he? he has pace skill and can pass a ball as good as ricketts and steinnsson - if not better - huth played quality for stoke at RB ivanovic at RB so on and so forth back four cahill wheater knight robbo is solid for me - we can't defend definition of idiotic is keep doing the same things but expect a different outcome.

Can see your point given how shite our right backs are. Could he do any worse there? That said i doubt id do it without seeing how hes done in training

reckon it will be

Jaaskelainen

God knows, coyle may flip a coin actually

Robinson

Cahill

Knight

Taylor

Muamba

Holden

Petrov

Elmander

Davies

Dont think he will start Lee, on bench, he may decide drop Petrov though. Dont think he'll start sturrdige either, reckon full debut will be everton, though personally id throw him in at spurs if persisting with 4 4 2 give him a run out before winnable home game v everton. Can write spurs away off now

If Davies and Elmander carry on like they are at present my fucking toys will be going out too.

Id play wheater with Cahill too, reason i suspect he wont is he wont want to rock the boat with Knight if Cahill is off in summer.

Agree ricketts before steinsson for me too

ricketts v steinsson

undecided.

both as good/bad as each other.

Put Sturridge in tomorrow, FOR F*CK'S SAKE.

If half the crowd can see that the Davies-Elmander axis was performing great because of confidence, not natural God-given ability, and is now performing sh!te because of a distinct lack of confidence, exposing the flaws in their God-given ability, then surely Owen can.

What's to fecking lose? The last few games against top-flight opposition (and their B teams) we've been toothless, and opposing defenders have had an easy ride against our front two. Time to start giving the opposition something else to think about...

he wont want to rock the boat with Knight if Cahill is off in summer.

Fuck that. He's looked painfully slow on a few occasions (which may be down to tiredness since he wasn't getting done like that earlier in the season), and some of his decisions (the daft tackle on Etherington, the pass to Steinsson against Chelsea) have given us bother too. If Knight has anything about him he'll know he's not been playing well and he'll get his head down in training and get his place back.

Reicketts v Steinsson is tough as neither have had much support from the man in front of them this season - I'd go for Ricketts, just I think.

Woleheartedly agree that we should throw Sturridge straight in, but would be hugwly surprised if OC does it

he'll start with skd and elmander, sturridge on the bench, maybe his presence will lift the performance of the other 2.

i am sure if we need a goal with 20-25 mins to go bringing sturridge and maybe chungy on will lift the crowd and the team.

well certainly more than swapping the same old faces as we do every other week.

I also have it on good authority that Sturridge might be the only player with a more deluded sense of self worth than Balotelli and Carlton Cole.

well after that prick diouf he will be like mother teresa

Ricketts is better defensively but Steinsson offers more going forwards

I agree with you - id play wheater myself

Ricketts is better defensively but Steinsson offers more going forwards

he is capabale of the odd goal but that's about it for me

Ricketts has the ability to get down wide and cross it in, plus he can throw it further

in fact, I'd say Steinnson is the better defensively of the two and Ricketts offers more going forward

both have been average this season, cover or otherwise

Ricketts is better defensively but Steinsson offers more going forwards

id say the other way round.....i think.

id say the other way round.....i think.

I'm with you, Homer.

But that "better defensively" is just comparitively between the two ...... not compared to any decent defender full-back.

You know, I'm not entirely convinced that either of them are any better than Nicky Hunt was.

now you're just being silly.

I think he was a perfectly fine full back

as good as we've had

punted a lot because Sam told him to but had a good cross on him when required

Hunt was very good for a while

Then OK for a bit

And then towards the end of his time with us his positioning was awful as was his passing; I do believe the boo-boys should take part of the responsibility for that, but much appeared caused by his attitude, which by all accounts hasn't improved much

I think we've just established beyond all reasonable doubt that our right backs aren't up to it :)

Norragudunbetweenum

attattitude utude goes a long way imo.

bad attitude is something you cant accuse ricketts or steinsson of.

Edited by HomerJay

it seems most are saying either ricketts or steinnsson at right back with a "best of a bad bunch" slant then why does playing cahill there who is a better footballer than both of them that bonkers i don't get it, the lads a footballing centre half he's not exactly Mark Seagraves is he??

Full back is arguably the easiest position on the pitch, he'd lap it up a man of his talent surely, i agree it is very unlikely but is it that stupid an idea really is it?

Or is it anymore stupid an idea than dropping Zat Knight one of the best defenders we have and most consistent performers this season just at the time when we're shipping goals and struggling to score (meaning clean sheets are prized to nick a 1-0 or 2-1) in favour of 2 right backs who were both appalling on their last outings?!

Aye.

Very fucking arguably.
