Elmander

Interesting read in the Northern Echo about the potential sale of Elmander to Newcastle:

Northern Echo

- claiming we offered Elmander to Newcastle for ?10 million, but Newcastle wouldn't play ball.

Fair enough, supply and demand. I don't trust a word that comes out of Geordieland though.

Not surprised if we tried to take the piss, personally I think ?5m would have been great business for us ?2m too much and at the end of the season I think we'd have been better off with ?5m in the bank than keeping him for another 4 months - shame in my view it's going to be a bitter pill when he walks for nowt in summer Eddie will need a stiff drink that day

I can't see that we would want as much as ?10M for a striker that's out of contract in a couple of months. I would have thought a fee of around ?2.5M would have been more realistic (and even that's pushing it!)

sorry, not having we offered him.

more like, toon said how much, we said 10m hoping theyd either pay it or go away,

With 2 hours before the window closes and knowing they have ?35 million or so burning a hole in their pocket, I'm not surprised we quoted that figure. As said above, supply and demand.

sorry, not having we offered him.

..isn't that offering him for ?10 million?

If the Geordies said, 'we'll give you ?10 million', that's us accepting an offer. If (and it'a a big 'if') they asked if he was available and we said yes, but only for ?10 million, that is us offering him, unrealistic price or not.

Heard a journo on 5Live last night who seemed to know his stuff (I missed his name though) and he said that a Premiership Manager told him last week that Newcastle were offering Carroll around.

My conclusions:

1) This practice is commonplace

but

2) I wouldn't trust the Geordies as they denied that they wanted Carroll to leave

I'd suggest his agent offered him to Newcastle.

We said ?10m.

Newcastle said ish don't think so.

Then Redknapp came in with a ?32m bid right at the death.

Maybe.

Hillarious....with 6 months left on his contract, you would be lucky to get ?2 million !!!

We'd be dicks to sell at all at this stage.

All depends who call's the shots and what sort of Club is coming in for him !

I can compare it with Pienaar, we got ?3 Million for him, a player that could fit into a Champions League squad, and not look out of place!!

Spurs and Chelsea, 2 Champions League teams after him.....yet we only get ?3 million...!

This is a simple one. Its just Newcastle trying to make it look like they went after a replacement for Carroll.

Aye, but we'd be left horribly short up front.

That's my point.

You sold Pienaar because he wants away and you only got three mil because his contract is nearly up.

Elmo hasn't said he wants to leave (or stay), and we need a striker more than we need the ten bob we'd get for him if we did ship him out.

The point being if that ?3M is nt used then you are dicks for taking the money, if it used then you have to balance is what it is used for of more or less benefit of having him there.

He never asked to leave, he wanted Parity with Arteta, we made an offer they did not like !

Its the best deal we could get, he stays we got nothing, he goes we get ?3million !

The money will not be spent on the pitch, it is getting used to pay back to Earl, and others we owe, as they have called in loans, reported to be between ?30 Million and ?50 Million!!

Either way, the Money is of use to the Club.

Madness !

I will predict now, that within 12 months, all the good players will be gone!

that's what it actually says in the article

they contacted us and we told them they could have him for ?10M

without making a bid, and us telling them 10m, is us offering him to them

Or playing silly buggers by way of telling them to fuck off.

I think it says a lot that their other option was loaning a player who is surplus to requirements at a League One club.

Lets hope so.

Was told by a very good source that Moyes knows its only a matter of time before your decent players are sold and there is nowt in the pot to replace them. Also, they have tried to get folk in looking to invest but they arn't interested. Goodison as land is worth about next to nowt because it's in the middle of a fucking ghetto and the new ground is as far from reality as it could ever be.

You need to slap your heads about and move in with Liverpool on Stanley Park, otherwise you might as well go watching Tranmere.

And if/when ED starts to recall his loans to BWFC, we'll rapidly be in the same boat.

Guess other clubs up & down the country (& Europe) are in the same boat ...... will have to be a pretty big boat.

That?s pretty much Spot on, with the current situation.

Any money in the Club is going to pay off the people who called the loan in, as that was the deal IF Kirkby got binned off, if it would have gone ahead, he would have put money in.....or so we are told by twat Kenwright......ah but he used to sit in the Boys Pen'!!

We had no 'Plan b' with the Kirkby situation, The board went all in on that pathetic Project, knowing full well NONE of the fans backed it, and had no plan if it went tits up......hence the situation we are in now!

Club Accounts not yet been released to Shareholders, rumours of Administration, offering players around, loaning players out to get them off the wage Bill....don?t sound too good !!

If this is all true, why not bite the bullet now, and just flog the players , pay off who needs paying off, then see where we stand !!!

Yaaawwwnnn I know, sorry!
