Spot on

And going back 20 yrs for an example anyway points to it being unusual at best

do you really want me to spend half an hour coming up with examples to show that a player can just need the right move to achieve his potential

(i'd probably start with some of the 'shit' at blackpool)

the point was that cos he wasn't good enough for swansea * he couldn't be good enough for us

players in form at prem teams are generally out of our range

* which in itself is bollocks

Upward curve is the usual measure if they've not already made it

Alright, sometimes it's the environment around them that maximises their potential

But in this particular case, what exactly is if that fills you with optimism

Most don't step up when in a promoted team and riding on a crest of enthusiasm

This lad was hardly their shining light

And these great Blackpool players.....back in the championship??

Hate to tarnish the great name of Super John didn't he shine for us in the lower leagues? Not such a hit in the big time? So not sure what weight that point carries with regards as a reason to have a punt on this lad?

Whoa there Belly. Unless my memory's failing me he had a few injuries and spent far too much time stuck out on the right by that ball bag Todd.

Cunt's a legend, let's get that straight :D

not read the whole thread, so this may have been posted(I hate it when people don't bother reading)

are people aware the only reason Pratley wasn't getting a game for Swansea was because of the contract situation?

Hes a good player and I'd be happy if we get him.

I'd probably be happy if we paid a couple of million for him aswell.

But Swansea fans aren't saying they'd miss him

That says something at least

As does not playing him, contract situation or not. Even if it just points to a bad attitude

but thats just bitterness

majority of our fans have said the same about Elmander

don't think he has a bad attitude either, just one of those things him moving on

But why would the manager not okay him for half a season

Very dangerous game if it's just due to contract issues

Don't believe they could afford or would do it based on that alone

He got injured, someone else (britton I think) came in and did really well. The management decided against bringing Pratley back into the starting XI as A- the team were winning without him and B- he'd said he was leaving.

A bit like OC did with Elmander ........

Oh, wait a minute ......

Signed for us if you believe the rumours on planetswans forum, hope this is true.

Of course I believe it, ITKGazNT told us all 7 weeks ago.

Forgot about our gaz.

Just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading that thread. It's got no basis at except 'a mate texted me last night'.

File under bullshit.

That mate sounds like a reporter for the local rag.am i clutching at straws.

Using Big John as an example again, I cant remember Millwall fans doing much crying when he left and then when he came to us for most of the Bolton fans is was a case of that cunt that played at Bury, why the fuck have we brought him, the rest as they say is history

Mcginlay had already scored a hatctrick against us at that level

Hence he was already playing at that level

Pratley has never played at the level we are at now

It's still not a good example for me :D

would we have been happy if we signed charlie adam on loan from rangers, when apparently he wasnt good enough for them?

mark my words, Charlie Adam is a one season wonder

I don't envisage Liverpool will be following up their interest anyway

we will have to agree to disagree!

Adam was 23 when he first went to Blackpool and had been playing regularly in a team that got to a uefa cup final before he fell out of favour at rangers

Pratley is 26 and has never played in any top flight

he went off form towards the end of last season because karl oysten stopped his transfer to spurs by ignoring all phonecalls and contact for 6 straight hours.

its obviously a matter of personal opinion...but i honestly think the guy will do big things.he managed superbly in a shite team, surrounded by shite cover....but in a good team he will prospour im sure...

ok, we get the point, you don't fancy Pratley

he could go either way - he could be a Chopra or he could be a Roger Johnson

in any event, don't try and justify anything by referring to the SPL as a top flight like it's quality is any better than the Championship!

hope its true, will be really chuffed if we get him

On general no

But I'd wager Rangers' uefa cup final year team would beat Swansea's last year
