is he any good?

Given the detail in here (?17K a week) and the persistance of this link, I'd be amazed if this one wasn't announced soon or on July 1 when all the Bosman deals go through. Interesting that Coyle said in the media that he had a couple of his own Bosmans up his sleeve as an add-on to his thoughts about Elmander's departure. This is one, so who is the other?

Nugent imo

cant recall ever seeing him play, but hes played his whole career at a lower level, and he's 28..

plus, 2 years since called up to jamaica squad. still never played for them???

On January 16, 2009, Pratley was called up to the Jamaican

squad

by coach John Barnes to face Nigeria

on February 11, 2009. Pratley qualifies for Jamaica through his grandparents but

is yet to represent the Reggae Boyz after pulling out of the squad for the

Nigeria friendly through injury after he broke his shoulder in a 4-1 win over

Preston North End, although he did return earlier than expected from his injury.

so is this lad actually any good?

im massivley unconvinced.

I'm not too bothered as long as we pad the squad out and add some quality at some other point, if he's a Cohen replacement then so be it.

As carlos said, if hes replaced cohen then ts a major improvement

He's 26. Just.

He's had five years with a decent club, I don't think he should be written off as a journeyman ne'er-do-well just yet.

I've seen him a few times - he looks a strong lad, mobile, decent passer.

I'd be happy enough with this for a first deal of the summer.

From the couple of times ive seen him this season he would be starting alongside Holden if Muamba isnt on top form. He is a decent passer with an eye for a goal. Our shit centre midfield depth is a major reason we lost the semi final and our season fell apart imo. He will go some way to providing competition/cover in that area.

7 goals from 28 games isnt bad for a midfielder.. even if it was in the Championship..

Even if, at the very least, he's an improvement on Cohen and O'Brien then it's a good signing.

From what I've seen of him, admittedly only in the Championship, he'll be a useful signing. He's got a great engine and can shoot and pass. That'll do for starters.

Seen the lad play at Wigan in the cup he was excellent that night, he has the physical presence to be a premier league player, in other games I have seen he drifts out of the game and does not have the impact he should have, the goal he scored against Forest was quality and shows he has good technique, he needs to improve 5-10% but I think he has it in his locker.

dont know why we're bothering signing another midfielder robbie blake has signed for 12 more months ( were saved)

If we've got Pratley and get Onuha and Boyata that will be great business IMO - Pratley has looked like he has all the attributes that Muamba has but he can pass and score goals, Onuha played for in a sunderland defence that I think on the whole was very good keeping plenty clean sheets definate improvement to the squad for me..........right.....drop Defoe in there and we're sorted......if only

First & strongest rumour dead in the water then.

Or is it .... ?

The bullshit possibilities are much higher than average on any rumours circulating to do with Newcastle United. Doesn't appear to be good news though.

So a bloke we were never officially chasing might sign for another club who, until today, weren't even mentioned in the chase.

Riveting stuff. You'd think his agent was putting out stories about interest from other parties with potentially bigger spending power, wouldn't you? Not that agents would ever do that kind of thing, of course. Oh no.

Not forgetting the fact he could achieve Premiership football with the club he is still contracted too this weekend... The judus **** :D

Newcastle also bidding for N'Zogbia

Not concerned ATM

GazNT has already put a ITK post about Pratley, he already signed months ago. Fear not :good:
