To be fair, I know you have never been wrong before , but in this instance what you are saying cannot happen!

Apparently Beckford signed a pre-contract with Everton in the January before his transfer later that summer.

 

Also apparently 'pre-contracts' are not binding - or at least this one wasn't(?).

We should have spent the 1 million Swansea wanted for him in January, then we would not have gone into the semi final with only 2 central midfielders.

Cohen and Mark Davies have been unreliable due to injuries most of this season, but I can understand Bolton not wanting to cough up 2 million if Pratley has indicated that he would definitely sign when his contract is up.

Pratley scored for Swansea in third round, so he would have been cup-tied even if he had signed after that game on 8 January.

Any chance he could change his surname?

We have been short of midfielders since Sean Davis got injured a season and a half ago. So I am surprised that this wasn't a priority in one of the windows. Cohen not progressing has been a disappointment because he proved he can get around the pitch and stuck in in a few games last season, especially away like Fulham and West Ham. Which is just what we needed on Sunday.
