Aye, we're regularly rubbish in pre-season.   It means nothing at all.   We do have one or two concerns, granted, but they hardly came to light in the early hours of this morning, did they?

I'm going to try for the Houston game, but getting the time off work for a midweek game will be tough :)

I've got the same problem, these yanks hate giving you time off, as I went home for Nat's funeral and Wembley, I used up all my vacation time, I can't make the Florida games, but will be at the Houston game due to a dead aunty who is scheduled to snuff it next Thursday...

I heard this off an American I work with, they were astounded we got 25 days off. What is it with holidays over there?

I get 20, and that's after I've been at this company for 5 years... very harsh with the hols over here.

it's pretty much standard over here that you have to work for a company for 2 years before they give you 1 week off......

tighter than a Queen Latifa jumpsuit !!!!!

Sounds like their teacher might be a Boltonian:

is it like that with the big blue chip companies as well? I work for MARS Chocolate and a colleague of mine is in the process of applying for stuff out in california to transfer over. He assumes it will be the same as over here 26 days + stats.

I get 27 days plus stats. My boss, in the US, gets 20.

Also, in the US wimming get 6 weeks maternity leave.

Also, your employer can simply say, "Empty your desk, you're fired" and there's nowt you can do about it.

Land of the free eh.

Dont they have unions over there, employment law and the like ?

I had a bit of an incident with that. Went on a trip to the Far East with one of my American counterparts & she's showing me photos of the baby, but clearly not up to date ones as it was tiny, or so I thought. She starts crying in a shopping centre when she sees a pram. I thinks, get a grip. He boss must've seen my face & said, oh, she dropped it 8 weeks ago. Fucking hell, I bet she still had stitches in.

Yes and yes, but certain States have what they call a right to work laws. Which means - Right-to-work laws are statutes enforced in twenty-two U.S. states, mostly in the southern or western U.S., allowed under provisions of the Taft-Hartley Act, which prohibit agreements between labor unions and employers that make membership, payment of union dues, or fees a condition of employment, either before or after hiring, thus requiring the workplace to be an open shop.

Are any of the US matches being shown on't telly or t'interweb?

Then he will be in for a shock

I ran into a guy today, he had worked at the same company for 35 years and he gets 3 weeks vacation.....every time we got to a massive game, or when we played the scum I had to quit the job to make the games, I'm a Truckologist with a great record so I am lucky that I can always find employment

We were laughing at the Dynamo training session this morning, Bolton keeps talking about the 85 degree heat in Florida, they won't know what hits them when they get here. A Dynamo FO guy said they had asked to train at 3. Nobody (but mad dogs and, oh, yea.....) goes out in the middle of the afternoon in Houston. When I got in my car after the training at 12:00 the thermometer said 100. It's just as humid as Florida, too. Welcome to Houston.

Brahma, if you go to the game & see the 3 stooges in a white Mustang convertible go and say hello. They're harmless really! :good:
