With it being a late KO, plans went out for an early start up the top end of Halliwell and do the crawl down wih the usual gang, we only managed about five pubs before jumping in a taxi to a packed out King Billy, the place was bouncing.with whites. I wont mention the game, but a red i know got caught up in the Manny Rd and got stretchered on the pitch and waved V signs to the Bolton fans, and still got pelted. I talk to lads who went from round my area who supported United that day, and they say thats the most hostile match they can ever remember. Payback from 75 i suppose.

I remember coming out of the Lever End with my daughter and seeing it kicking off on Manny Rd, I actually strode over 2 vermin as they lay on the floor after being twatted, I'll never forget the feeling that I wish my daughter wasn't with me because I really wanted to damage one of the red vermin.

Was in the the Burnden Paddock, never seen has much Hatred directed to any other team at Burnden than at that game.

After the game was "very interesting" all the way back to Farnworth.

To be honest, i saw lads in red colours getting knocked to fuck that day before the game had started, and after the game on the footbridge was savage, i was glad to get back to the Griffin.

I know it was a defeat for Bolton that day, but on another level, i think Bolton defended our town rather well.

As a 17 year old, living miles away from Bolton and at that age not really knowing many other BWFC supporters other than the Marple lot I still went with my old man and younger sister in those days, but being the typical angry teen lad that I was at the match, especially that one, as we were walking back to where the car was behind the College I was intent on joining in.

 

Growing up in a hotbed of Manchester United fans and being given shit every day at school for years when we were 3rd division no marks and never considered worthy of competition for them gave me a heightened hatred of the red filth; this was before the internet so my only real medium of empathy of those feelings was at the games (we went everywhere home and away in those days) and from the Bolton fanzines, so to finally have them on our patch for the first time in my life at our ground was massive for me and I was so angry at the way they destroyed us....at least at OT in 91 we could hold our heads up high, but the 2 games that season were heart-breaking

 

Anyway, my old man kept me on my leash and even driving back down Manny Road to get to the motorway you could see carnage everywhere.

Not one person took the piss out of me about that game, it could of been oh so different if Sasa's shot would of put U's infront. As for the battling, we evened the final score and more

Went off in Manny Rd South which was pretty much a first for me.

First goal, and they're celebrating. The difference when the second went in was marked (marked like the blokes who went up for the first).

I came out of the Manny Rd North bang on the final whistle & a big group of 2/300 munichs were already marching (at speed ) down Manny Rd towards Farnworth & they more or less escaped before most Bolton fans were out of the ground.
