The Beatles Or Rolling Stones ?

Featured Replies

Started buying records in my youth, and with Beatlemania at its peak mid 60s , i neglected a lot of Stones sounds, i bought a few a bit later though in the late 60s,. Just been going through some footage on youtube, and fucking hell, the musics welll good then. Its only a long distant memory now, when the fairgrounds used to blast your eardrums out playing " Lets Spend The Night Together " on the waltzer on Tyldesley Wakes.with a group of same age wenches throwing up after a spin.

I wasn't born until '73 but for me I find the Stones the far better band to listen to. I think is was when I was out with some mates drinking and "stuff" when I was about 15/16 and I heard "Sympathy For The Devil" for the first time.....what a beaut of a track. That track has stuck with me to this day and always will.

Woo Woo

My gran preferred the Beatles.

I was born in '66 ( world cup baby ), so at the time I knew nowt. But I can safely say that I don't think I could spend time listening to either. Just not my stuff. I would probably have been listening to Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, and laughing.

Beatles for me.

Do like both though.

in my younger days used to listen to quite a bit of the beatles

as ive got older my musical tastes have change and now and cant stand the beatles

the stones have done some classics- gimme shelter, sympathy and brown sugar.

Beatles for the 60s stuff, Stones for the late 70s.

My mum saw The Stones play Wigan I think and The Beatles in Manchester. There's a few Stones tracks that stand out but the rest is meh. I heard The Stones Stripped album recently and that's ok. The Beatles, you need to look at what rate they were banging out albums and the speed they went from 3 chord shit to inventing production techniques. Overrated but groundbreaking.

Neither. Small Faces. The Action. The Creation. The Who. The Kinks. John Mayall. Preferred them all.

Beatles for me !

Married a Stones fan, used to like The Beatles early stuff, now love The Stones.

Like Many bands from the 60/70s, The Who, Small Faces,Dylan,Cream , The Doors, Hendrix so many.

I think we was spoiled rotten in the 60s with the amount of bands gracing the top 10 in those days. The dross you here in todays charts are untrue. Thank fuck for XFM for playing some good tunes on the radio for these ears.

Wings, Cliff Richard, The Strawbs, Mud.... There was also a load of rubbish around as well. Don't believe That the past was any 'better' just a different era. Having said that I don't believe a better song has been written than Tim Buckley's Song To The Siren.

Seen The Stones twice and theyre still amazing. Not seen The Beatles live so cant comment, but as records go i find The Stones more a mans group and cheerful.

Exile on Main St is the quintessential Stones album, which everybody has ripped off.

The White Album and Abbey Road are the Beatles at their bestest.

It's all down to attitude though. Beatles are for the goody two-shoes of this world, whilst the Stones are for the bad-asses out there!

the only one answer to this

THE ROLLING STONES

the greatest rock n roll band in the world !

seen em 5 times - no contest

keef n ronnie legends

Bottom line surely is that irrespective of exactly who you think was best (personal choice after all) the fact is that in a short space of time good old little UK generated, in the Stones, Beatles, Who, Kinks etc, bands who not only shat on the rest of the world at the time but will continue to do so as people rediscover their (sometimes quite neglected) stuff :good:
