Nipped into the services on the M61 today thought I would get a sausage breakfast from subway and a ham sandwich for my son, to my suprise yes they did Sausage but only Turkey sausage and the same with the ham it had to be turkey ham, when I asked whay there was no pork the lad on the counter said it was because we were near Bolton and the meat was all Halal as Bolton has lots of Moslems,its little things like this that are begining to really get under my skin, there is something wrong with this country big time. If the boot was on the other some fooker would be bleating about there human rights being violated, should this get me angry? or am I just being being irrational?

Dont care if turkey sausage tastes better than pork sausage or not. At the moment Muslims are in the minority and if they will only eat halal meat why don't they fuck off to there own shops

I wont touch Halal meat on principle, im not having religeon stuffed down my throat, especially by myself. If our way of killing animals for meat is not good enough for Muslims there's aint good enough for me.

It's a shame there isn't a requirement to inform when meat has been killed in a Halal manner, simply because it is almost grotesquely cruel.

 

Rather than stunning and then killing, you simply slit the throat and allow the animal to die from blood loss. If the wound starts to clot, as frequently occurs, then blood pressure won't fall quickly so the animal doesn't black out and gets to enjoy the lengthy process.

I'm more concerned by pain than stress. Both Halal & Kosher slaughter require that death is caused by blood loss and not by severing the nervous system. Traditional slaughter houses can be fecking shite, but at the crucial moment they all ensure the animal is fully knocked out before they carry out actions likely to cause pain. Kosher & Halal both leave perfectly open the edifying prospect of animals flapping around with the throats cut waiting to die.

But, whichever way it is slaughtered, and which way is best is missing the point of the original post I think, as these are not serving pork because it isn't (and cant be) halal. If this is the case, then that's very wrong, which ever method is the best/worse. One thing respecting cultures etc, but another not to serve certain produce because it doesn't fit in with certain cultures.

I personally don't give two how my burger ended up a burger, but if Mounts can't get pork sausages in a place serving the general public, there's something not right, and it doesn't matter if it mainly sawdust and brains, if he wants a f?cking sausage barm he should be able to get one, simple as.
