May be a bit soon for this I know, but I reckon it would be nice to reminisce on some of our best memories of the gent whilst he was playing for us.

 

This probably isn't my favourite but its one i remember well as it was a great day out and one of the best atmospheres i remember at the Reebok when i was a teen. It was all topped off by this late speedo penalty to give us a 1-0 win against watford

Not a memory as such, but I never left a game where I thought he had a bad game, always consistent IMO.

I don't have a particular over riding memory of speedo in one game he was just that type of player mr consistency and reliable but what I do remember mostly is the way he got about the pitch and took the ball so comfortably he just had class ala djorkaeff, hierro, campo, laville and it's that gracefullness I pay my money to watch and I miss that in todays world of roboathletes

Quite a few, the bicycle kick against West Ham was a cracker.

 

He was one player who completely took me by suprise when we signed him.

 

I thought Big Sam was mad at the time, ?750k for a 34 year old!

 

How wrong was I?

 

The bloke was probably fitter than most of our players in the team. He covered every inch of the pitch for 90 minutes. He could pass, shoot, tackle, head, what a testement to his professionalism and the way he looked after himself that he could still play at the highest level.

 

He was a key part of some of my best memories of recent times at bwfc, and I'll never forget that. Top fella.

The header at Aston Villa. I was watching it in a boozer and the action froze as Speedo was in mid air, it came back on as he celebrated infront of the travelling support. Good header and celebration

I met him when he was our captain, went the traininng ground one day, was so nervouse meeting him, lovely boke, I loved him, So gutted when he left.

 

As others have said, he never had bad games.

 

17 Goals in 60 games was quality!

Doing Gary Neville at Old Trafford always made me smile.

 

His 500th game was fantastic v West Ham - he ran the show that day.

 

Best goal personally had to be the bicycle kick v West Ham but the penalty at City made me happiest.

How we could do with someone like Speedo in the middle of the pitch at the moment. He'd not let those around him roll over for the opposition every game which is what's happening.

 

Speed's penalty against Citeh has to be the favourite moment. Ice cold he was. The players must've all been pissing themselves laughing at such a smash and grab in the changing rooms afterwards.
