The Premiership Years On Sky

Featured Replies

why dn't they just rename it the man united, chelsea and arsenal years

It's all i've watched over the festive period.

Why not rename these years "Bankrupting clubs like Oldham, Portsmouth,Bradford,Charlton and Southampton"? Title not catchy enough or too near the truth?

Best league in the world? At what price to wider football in this country?

Take the number of Premiership clubs owned by British citizens, multiply that by the number trading in the black then stick the result up Murdoch's arse.

Some people have a lot to be humble about.

Nice to be reminded of the days when we used to get results against the big boys.

Shit programme

As anewman says, it's dedicated to the top few

Boring

This mornings 2002/3 season confirms my view that our current set of fit and available players are not good enough to avoid relegation

I'd argue the other way, I think the current squabs us bigger and stronger that's it's possible ever been.

Granted it is missing that special player, but the overall quality is much better.

We consistently punched above our weight for years.

And these days It's certainly better than Swansea, wolves, Norwich, wigan at the very least.

There is one Aspect considerably worse that ever before, the management team.

I can only agree the management team was stronger then. As for the players no way. JJ, Ngotty, Djorkaef, Nolan, Campo younger version of jussi. Just a couple of those players would make a difference.

In fact Homer I think you have had too much brandy in your Christmas Pudding. Add to that list a younger Gardner and wasn't it Bergsson's last season? Although at the twilight of his career still better than anything we currently have (you could possibly argue Cahill). In fact other than Cahill I am struggling to add anyone from today's "stronger" squad.

lIke he said above I think you are drinking too much

We dont have a striker now who is even championship quality, no decent full backs and our midfield of Muamba and NRC (Djorkaek, Campo, JJ, Stelios) Fitter SKD and Ricky

We are garbage at the moment and ready for a complete clear out and rebuild

Dont have a striker thats premiership quality, See that's nonsense.

How many goals in how many games does klasnic have, and how many caps for Croatia does he have?

Davies was international quality last year.

You only named 2 midfielders in campo and okocha.

Ricky has never really been anything more than average.

Nobody wanted most of the players we used to have.

And Nolan was the most abused player in the clubs recent history

I said whole squad was stronger but missing that special player, I stand by that comment

As for the rebuild, how much did this squad cost to assemble?

And think getting rid and building a better squad on tuppence is the way to go??!

Give me strength

And you named the best handfull of players, not the bunch of average joes around them

We actually have 25 players these days, not 5

We do have a better team, than BSA years, but......

We have a largely unfit, injured squad. Which goes back to the point we have virtually all agreed on, that the back room staff are essentially a bunch of incompetent muppets, I cannot recall a season when we had so many injuries or 'sick notes'

Isn't that pointing to the people OC appointed from Burnley & the borders ?

Are they premiership quality ???

If we're talking about that 2002/3 squad:

Cahill's a poor man's Bergsson.

You have addressed Ready2Roll's comments but not mine

So go on you still haven't answered my question who would you have in from our current fit and available?

some you mean all :give_rose:

Jaaskalainen

Charlton Ngotty Bergsson Mendy

Djorkaeff Okocha Nolan Campo Frandsen

Ricketts

Of the players that lost to Newcastle Cahill would start and I'd prefer Reo-Coker to Frandsen. The gulf in class between that team and the one we have now is depressing

are you pissed?

Was he balls

Most could see he was fat and not performing

Others said "I don't know what it is he does but we are better with him than without"

You make it sound like he was being pelted with regular abuse from the stands like eboue or something

And I'd have said that was confined to places like here than at the games
