Apologies for pinching the following stats from The Wanderer. If they are accurate, and I have no reason to doubt them, we would be wise not to get carried away by the prospect of St Harry of East London marching out at Wembley any time soon.

Ramsey's Ipswich Town record does piss all over Deputy Dawg's CV, doesn't it?

:) I hate him with a passion P! He's a slimy bastard, always has been.

I feel you, brother. I feel that way about Evra.

and where did that get us in the last world cup? a 1-1 with the USA and a 0-0 v Algeria

ace

Hiddink doesn't come close to that either, won some dutch titles, but so has McClaren

I think Hiddink's experience at WCs and relative success counts for more. Plus he previous for making a short term impact.

Although it is a completely different generation it does prove that he had success with English clubs/ players before winning the world cup

All Capello's cv proves is that he is very successful in Italy - his lack of knowledge of the English ge was evident

What we need is a manager who has a good knowledge of the English game and good international/ European experience

Fergie, Mourinho, Wenger all fit the bill but none are "English" or would take the job

a good knowledge of the English game is necessary if you want to wint the Premier League.

A good knowledge of international football would make you better qualified for the England job I reckon.

What about Porto?

I agree on that front, however:

it's going to be Redknapp - if they go English, which they more than likely will, as he's the best English manager out there, and wants it no doubt

if that doesn't come off, then go for Hidinnk

other than that, there's no one decent

The F.A said when Capello was leaving after Euro 2012 that the next manager will be English.

What they say and what they do may be two totally different things though. If Jose Mourinho or Alex Ferguson said they wanted to do the job, I reckon the FA wouldn't give a toss if they are English or not and be happy for eother of them to take the job

Its genuinely unbelievable how talkharryfm is portraying Capello and championing Redknapp,

Capello had a 67% per cent win ratio as England manager, the highest, as much as a cock he is hes a fookin good manager, got it wrong in one tournament we will never know if he learned anything from it

They were probably tubthumping in an attempt to get all us patriotic types wet with excitment.

I imagine most England managers will have something similar as they all tend to qualify for a tournament, then lose one game to get knocked out

do penalty defeats count as draws?

anyway

we'll never know if he learnt because he walked out on us just before a tournament

whoever's fault you see that as, it's not like he had dealt with the captaincy issue with much integrity previously

however we are where we are now

looking for a new manager

no point in looking back on Capello's club or international record, just look for the best man to do the job now, English or otherwise

I agree, but weve lost a good manager with a decent record, the next man needs to be good, Hiddink fits that bracket well especially internationally, Redknapp would intsall the pride in the shirt but Hiddink a better mon,

Can Diddles not morph them, or Hiddink does the Euros wiht Harry in attendance in a learning capactiy?

aye, agree he has the better record, but as pointed out Sven and Capello's records did nowt for us ultimately

Robson and Venables didn't compare either but I reckon the proud Englishmen factor is what we are missing at the minute, the players are good enough and Redknapp has shown at Spurs he can manage a set of good players and get them performing

I'm normally the last person to get all natiionalistic and all that, but it's time to look to bring that back into our team now we have someone who has some decent mangerial klout

just for cassie

http://en.wikipedia....ddink#Tax_fraud

In February 2007 Hiddink was given a six-month suspended jail sentence and fined ?45,000 after being found guilty of tax fraud by a Dutch court. Prosecutors had demanded a ten-month prison sentence for Hiddink, who was accused of evading ?1.4 million in Dutch taxes by claiming to be a resident of Belgium from 2002 to 2003. The Dutch Tax Intelligence and Detection Service claimed that he hadn't spent enough nights at his Belgian house which he had stated was his primary address. Hiddink denied this accusation

does he twitch and call bolton fans as well

you know, for the full set?
