kent_white
Reet . I'vee just bought a new laptop from Dell . With it came a Windows OS disc another disc with Dell drivers. Does this mean I don't need to make a back up disc? Thanks in advance!

kent_white
Balls - I've already started pissing about it now. Adding and deleting programmes and such like. I take it I'll still be able to make a back up disc? Or did I need to do it before I made any changes? Sorry - not very technically minded! Site Supporter HomerJay Posted March 28, 2012 Site Supporter Share Posted March 28, 2012 All the dell stuff will be downloadable Most of it will be shite anyway OS is the important one Most of your hardware drivers will be found if you reinstall the OS anyway Any others you need just download In fact I'd be reinstalling a clean OS anyway to get rid of the dell shite
kent_white
That's the problem now. It comes with so much preinstalled software and I've no idea what is safe to get rid of and what's essential. Have been advised to run a programme called 'PC Decrapifier' which supposedly does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a brilliant name but doesn't inspire me with confidence. Have you heard of it? Got 3 years worth of free Macaffee security pre installed as well, but every forum.I look at is advising me to delete it and install AVG for free instead? Has anybody got any advice on this as well. Sorry for all the questions but I appreciate your time.

kent_white
So if I do install a free version, am I comprimising security for speed? Or do the freebies pick up just as much. Maybe I'm just tight but I can't get my head around why the free programme would work better than the paid one?
