Wimbledon finished 8th ffs

They started again from the very bottom and faught all the way back into the league in the time we have been at the top

We did well to get 11 years on the spin in the prem

we went up, huddersfield went down, now we go down, huddersfield come up

One of the hightlights of that season was Burnley 0 Bolton 2 just before Christmas and Preston 0 Bolton 2 just after.

You can't beat a good derby win.

Plenty of opportunity next year.

With gareth farrelly scoring the first league goal of 2001 against preston.

as i said on youtube bolton stuff thread...

i was at that game and have no recollection whatsoever that A,We played in yellow and B,there was no stand to right of me.

I'd forgotten about that stand too!

I doubt very much the H&S people these days would allow that to happen now, a load of rubble and machines pitchside.

I remember Jack Dearden on GMR reporting that West Brom had scored and it was us...... FFS, the perils of being a part time fickle fan, I had just done the Blackpool 10k run.

Looking at FSA's last 2 seasons in the Championship, there are many similarities.

3 West Ham 46 26 13 6 86

3 Bolton 46 24 15 7 87

14 Away wins for Bolton and 13 for West Ham.

I'd noticed that too. Some awful performances as well, it's very much what happened at Bolton

eeh them were the days

4 of us went, got brother to drive - game finished about 2ish - he wanted to drive straight home - got him to drive to sutton coldfield so could meet mate for a "quick pint" at 3pm

we left the pub at 11pm with a crate of budweiser

as for similarities to west ham's season - we got 10 home draws that season, something west ham moaned about last season, not enough wins - remember 2 in particular - being 3-1 up to both Palace and Gillingham late in the game and conceding injury time equalizers

Memory isn't great, but thinking of that season, one game that comes to mind is a 1-0 win v Norwich with D.Holdsworth scoring ( I think) not sure what importance this was, just can see him running towards corner flag. It may have been Gardner thinking about it.

think that were last day of the season, the season before?

No idea, thinking of Holdsworth, 3 things come to mind, that, semi final miss and goal v Liverpool and Westerveld's error.

We need Sordell or N'Gog to bang in the goals like the forwards we had back then, us Blackburn and Fulham were too good for that league, we should be next season, if we keep the players we have.

3-0 away at Sheffield wednesday sticks out. 2-0 at burnley was another. I also remember losing 2-1 at Crewe at back end of season that gifted Blackburn the auto spot.
