My better half has decided she wants to redesign the bathroom which will mean moving loads of pipework so while I'm at it I thought I might as well change the central heating boiler as mine is yonks old, working but not that efficient and probably on its last knockings anyway.

 

At present we have the central heating boiler downstairs in the utility room and the hot water tank in the bathroom.

 

Now if I get one of them combi boilers I presume I won't need the tank so can the combi boiler go in the airing cupboard or does it need to go where the existing c h boiler is.

 

Also if there's no need for a hot water tank where do you air your clothes.

New boiler in utility, stick a small rad in the airing cup where the old water tank was and you can still air your clothes.

When we did mine, the combe went downstairs in the utility, and we removed the tank and wall and had a shower put their (once you've removed the tank its just wasted space)

I did the same but it's a con. Quoted ?3,000 to replace boiler and flush the system, including the scrapage scheme. Sales man said you won't get a boiler fitting for less than ?3,000 by BG. My mate who's a plumber laughed when he saw the quote. Same job including new boiler less than ?1,500. Be careful. The interest if you wish to spread the cost is appalling.

Agree it's wasted space but it sits over the stairs if you know what I mean so i can't use the bottom three foot. Hence wondering if I can resite c h boiler and free up space in utility.

not if it's an internal wall unless you want ducting all over the shop, plus you can't have it as a proper cupboard. Venting and all that.

Yes can go in bathroom depending on bathroom location etc . You can still air your clothes as you can put a rad in cylinders cupboard .. Would need to see house though really

He's reet yer know. gud ole BG wanted to charge me ?3995.00 for a Worcester Bosch 37CDi I fucked em off and got the larger 42CDi for ?1900 fully installed.

Right, while we're on heating systems, I need omeone to take a look at my worcester 28i.

It's been losing pressure regularly but only when heating it's on. We've been topping up with the by pass.

Wife just shouted that it's leaking. I've taken the cover off and the tray is full of water.

I've got rid of all the pressure from the system and an hoping it'll stop leaking until morning. Anyone wasnt to make a few quid tomorro?
