Championship - Are We Even In The Top 10 Biggest Clubs?

By my reckoning there's at least 14 teams in our division who I would class as a "Bigger Club" than us.

Which makes it all the more exciting IMO.

But reckon there's many on here who would disagree.

CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS 2012-13

Barnsley

Birmingham

Blackburn

Blackpool

Bolton

Brighton

Bristol City

Burnley

Cardiff

Charlton

Crystal Palace

Derby

Huddersfield

Hull

Ipswich

Leeds United

Leicester

Middlesbrough

Millwall

Nottm Forest

Peterborough

Sheff Wed

Watford

Wolves

Are Blackburn bigger than us?

Derby, Bristol City, Charlton, Palace, Leeds, Leicester, Boro, Wednesday, Birmingham, Wolves, Ipshit, Cardiff, Forest - are all big clubs, whom I expect to top our crowds this season.

The big club debate again?

You're fishing with that list, surely.

I'll give you a "Bristol FUCKING City", for starters, though?

They averaged under 14,000 last season.

It all comes down to how you define the "bigness" of a club.

I would certaily suggest that Leeds, Forest, Derby and Sheff Weds are "bigger" clubs

it could even be argued, if we're looking at stuff won, that Blackburn are bigger than us... =@

If you ask fans of all the other clubs in our division next year to name the top 10 clubs in their opinion then I have little doubt we'd be in pretty much every one.

We were an established Premier League club for a long time and still have a good many players that they will think are still Premier League quality.

.. but again it all comes down to how do you define "big". If it comes down to number of fans or trophies won generations ago then we're way down the list.

And in 5 seasons time if we've not progressed, dipped a division again, come back..... we'll be getting how many?

And how many of them have a debt the size of ours?

If we're apeopleying that logic we could be a smaller club than Bristol Rovers.

Bloody hell Smiley, thats worse bait than mine.

Even I would say you are one of the biggest in that league.

With the way some on here were talking last 2 seasons, you would think you were one of tht top 10 biggest clubs in the prem !!

coyle and ga

rtside have ruined this club

Malcolm - is this first time there's been 8 teams starting with the same letter in a division? :shifty:

This type of thread is on other championship clubs forums, the best is Brighton they think selling 22k season tickets means they are the man utd of this league. Blackburn are very much 60-40 for us being a bigger club than them. IMO Leeds, forest and sheff weds are the big boys and us with 15 others are on a par.

Forest? My arse.

Brian Clough wouldn't be spoken about in such hushed tones if he'd won the European Cup with Liverpool.

His reputation is such because he was able to do it with a provincial club.

They haven't seen the top flight since 1999, they've been down to League One and their crowds, historically, have been shit.

One of the biggest myths ever, is Numbr of fans in your crowd defining the size of a club. Its way down the list !

No matter how you put it, they have still won the European Cup, twice !

And hats off.

But they were a small club when they won it, and they certainly haven't grown since.

Charlton??

They're just Fucking Wimbledon on speed

Put the rod away smiley

Birmingham and Wolves are surely bigger than us?

Ipswich definitely are. Their crowds rarely ever dip regardless of the division they are in!

And hats off.

Maybe they are not as "massive" as some make out, but they are without question, bigger than Bolton.

When I mean 15 other clubs, there isn't alot between them. Birmingham there crowds have been shite over last 10years considering there a 2nd city club

i don't think there is any doubting the fact that ipswhich are bigger than us, Leicester City as well.

You can also define the size of a club by which division it plays it's football in in over hundred and odd years of football we have spent more time in the top division than any other

I couldn't give a sh*t who is the biggest. In my eyes, we are the only one that matters.
