Couple more new restaurants opened recently. A curry house and a Thai.

Tried the Thai last night and it was fooking immense.

I had a salad fr starter which looked innocent enough but had enough chillies in it to restart a collapsed star, it was outrageous.

Loved it, everyone should give the place a whirl.

Bring your passports if you're from down in the place that looks like the part of town in Total Recall where all the freaks lived. You know who you are.

Parents went opening night. They loved it.

I'm planning on going one night next week.

Probably best the outsiders stay that way, Spider, they'd not appreciate it.

Walked past the Thai last week while they were still refurbing it. Looking forward to sampling - although I'm a bit of a wuss with chillies. I'm not a huge fan of lemongrass either to be honest.

True

And with all the choices Bolton has to offer restaurant-wise, they're well served.

Allens, Nile, Leena, erm,...Subway.

Also, that Bengal Spice is really, really good. Had a meal inside once and take out. The waiter was a bit clumsy though and knocked a drink all over the table, but the food was ace.

I'll have the noodles please, plain.

A piri-piri outlet would have been a good idea for the good folk of Horridge, its a pity, because i cant see that happening.

Where is this new Thai place mate? Nam Ploy is one of the most over rated places I've ever eaten at and I've got a hankering for a Massaman!

Don't be dissing Bolton's culinary excellence. You haven't even made a passing reference to McDonalds, KFC or Burger King.

I too have been disappointed on the few times I've to Nam Ploy. The new one is where Max Max was. On the left a little before the Albert.

I've always had a cracking meal in Nam Ploy so that surprises me. Going to give the new Thai place a go next week.

Trouble is with Nam Ploy is they charge a fortune for what is essentially very cheap food. The whole point of thai food is that it's quick, fresh and tasty. Nam Ploy try to put their own spin on it to justify charging a bomb and it doesn't work for me.

Nice to hear a good recommendation for this new place though. I'll give it a whirl. Thanks for the tip all!

Isn't Thai just chinese with lemongrass?

I'm going first, bagsy! :D

And BD, you are very wrong.

Is that were La Salsa used to be?

La Salsa is still there (which is a bit shit but folk seem to like it). Before the Albert. coming fdown from the Leisure centre way. Where Max Max was.

It's a million miles away when it's done right. Fresh, spicy, light and a proper fusion of flavours. Easy to cook badly, very difficult to cook well.

I think the trouble is, people think all Eastern food is "chinese" as many Chinese restaurants sell Thai, Malaysian and Vietnamese (which I also love).

As a bloke who's also spent time over that way and this, don't you think Chinese food can be quite dull and gloopy?

I don't mind Chinese, but I reckon what we get is a western take on some authentic dishes.

Vietnamese food is some of the best I've ever tasted. Well under the radar. Vietnamese sausage meat wrapped in banana leaves and then roasted, taken out and wrapped up in a kind of pancake with fresh veggies and chillies and a kind of deep fried crispy centre. Served with a peanut and chilli sauce. Add a beer and enjoy!

That's a long-winded way to say kebab.
