Megson was an arse, who was well on the way to sending us down, with a expensively (in Bolton terms) assembled squad, with a huge chip on his shoulder about everything Bolton. He was still whinging when he was getting paid for doing Fook all. I find it hard to take any positives from his time here.

I'd say that we were far from "certain relegation" despite the Sammy Lee era; we still had a cohesiveness within the squad and the results under Lee were not reflective of our abilities. It was an achievement to keep us up, but I'd say we'd have done it under Lee or anyone else for that matter. Post that season when it was "his team" we were wank and the whole club had an air of disillusionment

 

Homo, you're re-writing history; initially it was only a very small minority that were on his back; this was then enhanced as it would be under any Manager by his performance, manner and demeanor. It may be chicken and egg, but that's slightly irrelevant - he had the opportunity to change that but some of his behaviour was disgusting. Irrelevant of how he is treated, he had a job to do and part of that is getting the backing of the support as it enhances the club's chances of success on and off the pitch -like it or not. And he failed dismally

With both Megson and Coyle IMO they've not made the most of the situation they were in:

 

We were relegated because of Coyle, not despite him - of that I'm convinced.
