Super John Mcginlay Coming Home

Just been announced on twitter Mcginlay quitting at Cincinnati and coming back home. Welcome back John.

Featured Replies

I've seen him knocking about quite a few times, including once in Home Bargains, Burnden - his old stomping ground :)

A cautious welcome home...I think.

This means Alan Gowling is fucked

John if they ask you don't do it! Stay a legend or at the most take a coaching roll.

2 shots on target on Saturday?

I understand he's over here whilst one of his lads settles in at the Academy. He played in goal for CMB the other week BTW, some of the "not going whilst Coyle is in charge" should have gone down to that.

This means Alan Gowling is fucked

Alan Gowling hasn't been on radio this season - concentrating on his business.

I don't think it's a coincidence he was over the other week I would think the club have sounded out a out a return and his role will be similar to what he was doing in US building the academy up and I can't think of a better man for the job.

He managed to get himself outside the Reebok today though.

He may be a nice man but he really doesn't come across as one.

Ain't we just failed, quite dramatically I think in the " let's bring back an ex-player" experiment

Doesn't he know Ikon has closed now?

Sammy Lee's current/ old job in the academy could be a good opportunity for super John if Sammy stays as assistant manager to the new boss

spot on some think you can just throw anyone in and they will be a success. We need a very experienced manager now not someone who has been a manager for 5mins like the last one.

I'm guessing mc ginlay ain't qualified for lees job

Perhaps it wasnt a bring back an ex-player experiment, maybe it was a "lets get the best young, up and coming, manager we can afford, who just happened to be an ex-player" experiment. Unfortunately it failed.

By the way, we now have TWO ex-players in charge of the first team, one a defender and the other a midfielder, perhaps we now need someone to work with the goal shy strikers, could SJM be that man?

PS, im not saying SJM should be our manager, far from it, but perhaps there could be a coaching role for him somewhere.

No it wouldn't as i think they would lose status

What is this obsession with employing ex players FFS??

I want the Academy to have he best qualified an experienced coaches not this wanky old boys network, which is a key reason why we've fallen behind at youth level

Am I alone?

What is it Malc?

"He became the General Manager of a chemicals company in Buxton."

Fair point, i can't confess to seeing McGinlays or Lee's qualifications but can only comment as an outsider. What do you mean by "lose status" is that some sort of facebook thing?

Mcginlay has done 8 years with Cincinatti and has made them into the best academy in the US, he has glowing references from Cincinatti, he's BWFC through and through he fits the bill for me I hope he's on his way back to be part of the BWFC family.

Don't know if you're taking the piss or not

It's well documented

Sammy Lee was brought back in because his qualifications meant that him "running" the academy or being associated with it meant it was granted a certain top level status

This making it attractive to players (particularly overseas at a guess) and other benefits

Gumbo knows all more accurately

the jist of it

acadameys are all graded and have a certain status based on facilities and people running the acadamey, based on the qualifications they have.

We got sammy lee back to be graded at a certain level

something like that

gumbo or franny will explain it properly

hdont think he's comeing back for the weather do you

Supa John was on the radio a couple of months back. He was asked about his plans, whether a rumour of a return home was true? Anyhow, he said a comment along the lines of "watch this space..." and some more mutterings. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been so indiscrete if the role was anything major.

They aren't an Academy as such an they're not even an MLS team

Never mind the best academy in the US

Not sure where you've gotten that from pal

I'm not saying Mcginlay's not done alright like
