I coudln't be arsed going into more than what I typed but it was pretty much what Zico started with, in Liverpool a young lass who sadly ended up dead with a middle aged man to blame was only going to end up one way. Many a time at Horwich Parkway after a game the platform will have been rammed, I never get the train home but on one occasion after we had played Arsenal I remembered it being rammed and people was over the yellow line and nobody attempted to get people to move back, there was even a train passing through that flew past at regular speed. If the worst had happened who would have took the blame for that? I realise the circumstance is a little different with her getting off the train but why should this guy be made to babysit everybody on the platform, if this girl was as bad on drink and drugs as the article appears then it could have only been a matter of time before something else happened to her.

I think 8 years is ridiculous.also,but he still deserves punishment for negligence. As the judge stated,he will have had training to deal with this kind of thing time and time again throughout his long career,how to deal with intoxicated people his part and parcel of the job,he gave the train permission to leave the platform knowing that the girl,no matter how intoxiacted she was,was at risk in the train doing so. Was she to blame?...of course she was.She was killed because of her and his actions.

In my eyes he failed to his job properly which in turn led to her death. And it wasn't an unmanned station,it was station he was being paid to man in any way he is trained to do so....I.e sorting our drunk people on the platform. Wouldn't most parents feel like they're done something wrong if their kid was a nob? I'm asking this as I'm not but imagine they would. Maybe it's different than when I was a child/teen.

And if you'd killed someone and your rule breaking was on video, do you think you'd be jailed? I really do feel for someone who, by making a mistake in his job, ends up in jail for manslaughter. I think we are all more at risk at work with corporate manslaughter hanging over our heads. By the way, my daughter is 16 years old. She doesn't go out getting inebriated, by drugs or alcohol, at any time. This is as much about the mum and dad's parenting skills as it is about a guard not fully appreciating she was too wrecked to move away in sufficient time.
