I wish I had somewhere to go at Christmas, probably be a chip barm for dinner and watch telly on my own

I get well envious with these adverts with big families sat round the table

Not been out for years on either eve, can't be arsed.

Christmas with kids is the bollocks, just don't tell them Scrooge said that ;)

Just keep Christmas in December

New Year seems to be a bit of an anti-climax

Every N Y E I vow that I'll do something different/interesting the next year but never do. Begrudge paying £150 at least to do something/go somewhere that's usually a third of the price

I just want this shite year to end, both parents been suffering bad with illness, Bolton getting relegated, and a twelve year relationship with a girl ending, and my son and his girlfriend having spent loads of money, getting that dream holiday in New York ruined. The most important thing for me next year is my family, and making sure they are happy.

My local chippy was shut on Christmas Day last year, and I'd really psyched myself up for Chips and Gravy an' all - inconsiderate twats. I think I had a packet of Viscount biscuits instead :)

Last year I went on holiday but year before had frozen chips all on my own

You've got a son, how good is that? My biggest regret is not having kids, the baggage outweighed the luxury :(

Your day will come

Jan 2 is my favourite. 363 days to the next festive period.

Except that it will start in October as usual.

Hum-fucking-bug.

The way things are going for me I think I'm going to have a good one this year.

About bastard time

I presume these trees are the non flammable Tinsely things from B&Ms.

Surely their kids will be bored of it or at least will have got used to it by the 25th?

...and come in the box, readily decorated.

I get odd looks when I tell people if I get a tree I usually get one Christmas Eve afternoon. I can understand those with kids having one in the week or two before, but any earlier? Like NB says, surely the novelty's worn off by Christmas then?

For me as a kid, half the excitement of the tree was seeing it arrive etc. My late Dad would always claim it was bigger than last years :)

Top tip for New Year's Eve naysayers and loners - get ratarsed and get the headphones on at around 11pm, with plenty of tunes to hand...You won't even notice midnight (especially if you keep the telly on something else. ;))

Boxing Day by far... get to see the kids and do the present thing. Means I have to forfeit the match, but hey-fuckin-ho, that's life.

NYE. Anti-climax. Was considering Barcelona this year, flights are cheap enough, but nothing sorted yet.

Christmas Eve, carol service on the village green with mulled wine & mince pies.

Kids love it.

Typo fixed.

Nothing makes Christmas like a dose of the shits from dodgy prawn sandwiches, think on.

I'm not a big fan of either christmas or new year but really enjoy boxing day - 30th Dec, sitting in the pub, watching darts and knowing I don't have to get up for work the following day.

Christmas day is bobbins, this new year though going upto Edinburgh for a couple of night. Yes it will be expensive but beats staying round here.

Are you doing the street party? You can take your own booze in. Saw a bloke with 3 crates on his head. Thought it could have been Jazza at one point.
