Casino Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 i'm gonna burst me banks if he pulls all these off, i'll be filled with excitement if it was coyle signing em, i'd think differently theres just something i can't explain about young douglas next phase will be getting shut of a few seniors, i hope Quote
tomski Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I was on the phone to me brother last night and we were both of the opinion that we could get 1 more winger and 1 more centre half we'd be made up. Come on Dougie make it happen! Quote
enzo gambaro Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 He's like a morphed image of Hendry and Gerry Taggart. Do Carlsberg make central defenders? Quote
Traf Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 if it was coyle signing em, i'd think differently theres just something i can't explain about young douglas I think that pretty much sums up the situation. Coyle would have been castigated for buying "Championship shite", but there is a feeling that DF could mould these younger (not young) players into a decent team for next season. Quote
DazBob Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Crikey, so when all fit we have.. Knight Ream Wheater Mills Dawson Bolger Gregus SEVEN CBs. Fook me. Shame we've only got one left back ... and he's going in the summer. Methinks there's going to be a somewhat brutal culling of players this summer. I'd say it's needed though. tomski Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Crikey, so when all fit we have Knight Ream Wheater Mills Bolger That new foreign lad who looks about 10 years old. Shame we've only got one left back ... and he's going in the summer. Methinks there's going to be a somewhat brutal culling of players this summer. I'd say it's needed though. The new foreign lad is a centre mid. Quote
DazBob Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 The new foreign lad is a centre mid. Oh, fuck me. Have I parred myself off again? Quote
tomski Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Oh, fuck me. Have I parred myself off again? Aye. Back to your point though there is a lot of options at centre back though regardless but I think we know who will be going/phased out etc. Not looking good if your zat knight Quote
DazBob Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Aye. Back to your point though there is a lot of options at centre back though regardless but I think we know who will be going/phased out etc. Not looking good if your zat knight I'm having a 'mare. Anyway, Dougie certainly has selection posers (rather than problems). Dawson presumably hasn't come here to sit on the bench - unless Dougie follows the Coyle policy of bringing in people and not playing them. Maybe Bolger has been told to bide his time and wait for next season. Who knows. One thing's fer shure though, Knight's days must be numbered. I'd also say Ream, Mills and Wheater must be a tad nervous too. There's not room for all three of them. Edit: I think I confused Gregus for that lad we've brought in from Scotland - he's a(nother) CB isn't he? Edited January 29, 2013 by DazBob Quote
tomski Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Correct. I think knight and ricketts will be off. I see a future for Ream still, Don't think we will sign Dawson permanently we can enjoy him like we enjoyed John Newsome! Dougie mentioned the culture of the club again yesterday which suggests to me the way he will stamp his authority on this is by culling the elder statesmen in the dressing room. I suspect he has probably tried his best to do so this window, but good wages etc mean they are going nowhere for the time being. Quote
DazBob Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 It'd be a shame if we lost Ricketts, I've always quite liked him. Mind you, he sees the players day in day out and knows best. Ricketts is also another of our players still on PL wages. Like you say, I think we're stuck with these big earners until their contracts expire. It's not like any of them will have PL clubs clamouring for their signatures based on their performances so far this season. Quote
Casino Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 i reckon ricketts is one of the good guys but, pre (ish) wages makes him vulnerable and he doesn't look hungry Quote
bolton va va Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 http://www1.skysport.../11095/8451828/ - and another centre back... A quick look on the Bristol Rovers & Leicester forums, & they all seem to like Bolger but don't think he's ready for the championship yet. I'm guessing he's another one for the future like Gregus, Eaves & Fraser. I've no problems with that. Quote
Flannel Truscott Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Did we not have the fella from Bristol on trial in pre season when he was on a free and didnt sign him? Quote
enzo gambaro Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Did we not have the fella from Bristol on trial in pre season when he was on a free and didnt sign him? Kalifa Cisse - currently plying his trade in New England (Revolution, not Patriots). Quote

He is a great big blond haired guy who is good in the air but not so quick on the turn. In other words, a bit like Knight, Wheater and Mills. Quote
Casino Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) but cheap and possibly hungry shittu is effective in this league ps shittu looks like he eats a lot but probably isn't hungry Edited January 29, 2013 by Casino Quote

no balls Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 but cheap and possibly hungry shittu is effective in this league ps shittu looks like he eats a lot but probably isn't hungry I have a boring story about the size of his calfs. Quote
Casino Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 remember a couple of years back, united battered us one saturday tea time one of their nobbers ran on the pitch he was an angry little tyke and was carted off in front of the west lower south, looked like he wanted all comers shittu was warming up and i was so hoping he's launch himself at young daniel mince meat came to mind Quote

In other words, a bit like Knight, Wheater and Mills. Aye.....but Bolger is young enough to improve & Dougie looks as though he can get the best out of players if they're willing to work at it. ( Petrov clearly didn't have the commitment & I suspect N'Gog is next) Quote
Casino Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 odd one is ngog clearly got some talent and freedman has even talked him up whether thats for the benefit or others, i dunno the number of times he's unavailable through injury, says to me, we'd be better getting shut how you get shut of a bloke on decent money who hasn't shown enough to get a move to the prem while trying to recoup some of 4 million quid, i'm not so sure Quote
DazBob Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I have a boring story about the size of his calfs. They're too big for the socks, just like Neil Ruddock's arse was for the shorts at Swindon? Quote
DazBob Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 how you get shut of a bloke on decent money who hasn't shown enough to get a move to the prem while trying to recoup some of 4 million quid, i'm not so sure Unless Martin O'Neill comes in for them, you sell them for a lot less than you paid and be thankful they're no longer on the wage bill. In the case of Ngog, you'd hope the deal/fee we'd agreed with Liverpool would be heavily loaded with add-ons ... because I'm pretty certain whatever they'd be there'd be precious few of them that have been activated Quote
