I reckon a new centre forward will be pretty high on the shopping list. For whatever reason it doesn't look like Sordell is going to do much for us, and Afobe isn't very good

Hopefully Butterfield's loan can be extended until the end of the season. Send Afobe back (if possible) and try and flog Sordell - hopefully his stock won't have dropped too far.

 

We need to bring in a goalscorer, not another striker who we can say 'works hard' and 'holds the ball up well'. What's Klasnic up to these days,,,?

A defender (probably centre-back) who can defend and can organise and can be vocal on the pitch and make him team captain.

 

A holding midfielder who can protect the back four & can pass. Preferably athletic and quick too, but that's expecting a lot.

 

Someone who can score goals up front, knows where to move in the box and when, and knows link-up play up-front as well.

 

If Eddie has won a mega-lottery somewhere I'd go for a right-back, an experienced keeper, sign Warnock & maybe Butterfield, and maybe some pace and 'will-do' attitude in some other positions.

 

As for off-loading, take your pick from a very very long list.

 

I honestly don't expect too much though. Funds are limited and maybe DF's brief is to bring Academy players through as soon as is realistic. And meanwhile just hack it. I don't go for all that pre-season 'promotion is a must' gubbins from the powers that be.

I was for wondering why we got buttercup in and this may well be the reason why - I think most acknowledge we need to do some serious business in january and maybe we need a catalyst like this to get it done
