December 26, 201213 yr Brother has just got a brand new xbox. He's just tried playing one of the games, but it's not working, (it was yesterday) the disc has a perfect circular scratch just before the edge of the disc. Another game has the same but thats working. Is it the way he's inserted / ejected it? Or an issue with the xbox? I've a receipt for the game, whats the likely hood of a refund if I say it came like this?
December 26, 201213 yr The 'perfect circular scratch' is probably just where the data ends. Try it on another console.
December 26, 201213 yr Sounds like the box pal. Bring it back if you have the receipt. Where you the one who sold him the dodgy disk then?
December 26, 201213 yr Where you the one who sold him the dodgy disk then? I went through loads of xboxs for a spell. They are crap
December 26, 201213 yr Author The 'perfect circular scratch' is probably just where the data ends. Try it on another console. Google is telling me its caused when the console is upright and is kocked/moved which causes the scratch. 2 discs have it 2 don't. It worked yesterday isn't now.
December 26, 201213 yr Still no mention of a balloon.... Take if back with the receipt, should be able to do a swap for one that works.
December 26, 201213 yr take the disc to game they'll polish it up and my lads xbox is the best value for money ever ps3, my arse

December 28, 201213 yr Author Have you tried rubbing the scratches with a brillo pad? First thing I tried mate, they wouldn't swap it but they can run the game through a machine tht gets rid of scratches apparently, but the machine was on the blink, taking it back tomorrow
December 28, 201213 yr If you install the game onto the HD then it only needs to read the disk to check it's in. So, you can install a working disk and run using a fucked one.

Got a result with this in the end, I took the game to Blockbuster to have this scratch removed, the woman said the machine wouldn't fix it. anyway she told me not to buy games from Game, and she'll just 'nip in the back' she come out with a brand spanking new copy of the game and swapped it FOC :-) RESULT

February 13, 201313 yr lads xbox packed up on sunday it wasn't recognising discs had been an intermittent issue with EA stuff but it then gave up the ghost he convinced me to open the fcuker up it was absolutely full of muck/dust opened up the dvd drive and gave it a good clean and now all is well anyway, is it just a standard drive?
February 13, 201313 yr I don't think so. I fixed my original Xbox when it got the red lights of death and when it finally died I smashed the fuck out of it, didn't look standard. Annoyingly, the drive was fine and I took it to the tip last year.
