DazBob Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 kia are decent but on the cheap side of decent Define 'cheap side of decent'. Structurally and mechanically sound, but cheap looking/feeling styling? Quote
freds dad Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Genuine question here for folk who actually know about cars rather than the badge snobs who'll simply say they're shit. What's the score with Kia these days? Good cars or not? Don't they offer a ridiculously big warranty? So sommert like a Picanto, if just used as a low-mileage runaround, would/should be pretty much trouble/cost free motoring for as long as you'd keep it. Reliable cars with a good warranty as you say but it will be worth nowt if you come to trade it in unless you get another Kia. There are too may on the roads for folk to be badge snobbish and they do look good. It's not like you're buying a Lada. Quote
HomerJay Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 plasticy cheaper materials obviously used. though ive only been in the sorento and the sportage. mechanically sound though, as far as ive read. Quote
Carlos Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 I wouldn't drive a Chrysler and I'm fucking good at reverse parking. Quote
Traf Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I wouldn't drive a Chrysler I'm not a car person (I don't even own one!), but why? Quote

DazBob Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I wouldn't drive a Chrysler and I'm fucking good at reverse parking. But think how off-the-scale cool you'd look just sitting there as your new car parks itself. Quote
Traf Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 But think how off-the-scale cool you'd look just sitting there as your new car parks itself. Do you have to be in it, whilst it parks? If so, I'm not interested. Quote
DazBob Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Do you have to be in it, whilst it parks? If so, I'm not interested. I do hope not. I'd like to think you can just get out of it and whilst you're having a piss or making a brew that it's sorting itself out. Quote

It's not like you're buying a Lada. http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/news/2012/february/2011s-best-and-worst-depreciators/ Don't think they've done 2012 yet. 2011's best and worst depreciators Kia's Picanto retains top place in 2011 Numerous small cars dominate the top 100 Economical off-roaders hold money well According to the Parkers depreciation stats for 2011, the outgoing generation of Kia Picanto was the car that lost the least money after a year of ownership. That is in terms of £ not % purchase price. Daughter has a Picanto and I love driving it round town, it's like driving a go-kart. Economical except on motorways at high speed where it sups juice, but I'd expect that for a 1.1. Her's is a special edition with air-con, leccy windows, tinted glass, 15in wheels, mp3 and usb connections for the ICE and of course 7 year warranty. Quote
Carlos Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Is it not cooler to just swing it in yourself and give anyone watching a cheeky wink? Quote
