Making Cakes

Is this some sort of new trend??

Over the last year or so there seems to be cake in the kitchen here every other day and there are regular competitions. It seems a lot of folk here seem to get a buzz out of making cakes in their own time and then bringing them into work for ignorant cunts like me to scoff, without so much as a thank you.

Is it just here that this is happening or is it something that's happening outside of North Manchester too?

Oh, and it's not just birds doing this either. The blokes are at it too. Weird.

Men and baking is just not fucking right any man who bakes is a fucking bender   Men should either be at the match, supping or fingering and flat dicks at home baking where they belong

Featured Replies

I saw a shocking recipe on FB last night.

Frozen berries

Cake Mix

1 Can of sprite

WTF is that ??

the cake is a lie

The lasses at work really seemed to have taken to it. A few of them have started their own business on the side. They always bring in elaborate cup cake / cake designs to try and out do one another/ bask in praise. They love the attention.

I always make sure to make a few nice comments with the ones making them and without fail anytime their brought in I get my own share, right to my desk!

wasn't "The Great British Bake Off" or whatever it was called massively popular earlier this year, I think it was like X-Factor for folk making cakes.

Anyway, none of the flatdicks where I work make cakes and fetch them in, the miserable nobbers

Me and three mates made some 'cakes' once. I was stoned for about a week, didn't see the funny side after about three days - waking up and thinking "Yup, I'm still caned..." Eventually just went with it and went about my day with an aura of a clumsy, hungry dullard. :)

As for folk baking normal cakes, it's a fad - rediscovering that as long as you've a set of scales and can follow instructions, cooking from scratch isn't too hard, especially with cakes.

I'll bet the cake baker's boyfriends and husbands are still scratching around to make or buy in their own 'tea' of an evening though - pawing through the cupboards/fridge or leafing through menus like disgruntled grizzly bears...

Unless they have cake of course.

I made space cakes once. A NYE seven years ago.

I had no idea what I was doing or how much to make. Suffice to say I made them waaaay too strong.

I've never before or since been so stoned that noises made me see rainbows.

Baking is a really relaxing pastime.

Folk bob in mine of a weekend if Im not out and about as they know I've usually got a bun in the oven so to speak.

When I've time, I love baking. I'm actually pretty good at it, if I do say so myself. Haven't brought anything into work yet, it's usually all gone by Monday mornings.

Slighty crusty/overdone on the outside home-baked cake with plenty mixed dried fruit is belting, especially when it's still warm from the oven...

Men baking anything other than cannabis is wrong tho' - and the bloke with the goatee beard looks suspect to me.

cupcakes are a fad, like "keep calm" posters, they wind me up

fair play making your own, as there's shops popping up selling them at extortionate prices

here's 3 in manc

Cake? Just Say No!

"One little kiddie on cake cried all the water out of his body. Just imagine how his mother felt. It's a fucking disgrace..."

Bernard Manning, 1998.

All you bakers where can you buy wimberries from? they used too sell them in jars or loose on t'market can't get em anywhere.Ps before any one says pick them,up Rivvy. i am not built for foraging.

Pick them up Rivy :)

Imported Whimberries from Paraguay? Aren't they one of those things you really have to wait until they're in season? Like 'back in the day' with Jersey spuds, strawberries, rhubarb etc.?

Agree but i love wimberry pie the wiff bakes I eat.

I made one on Sunday, whey protein, peanut butter (crunchy), almonds, honey, milk and porridge oats. Simple. Won't win any beauty competitions though.

No point agreeing with him, he'll have forgotten his comments by now anyway

You're right, you won't.

What did the cake look like though?

Urgh, with the ratio of women to men at the match I think I'll stick to supping...

Whimberries are wrongly called bilberries by the non-righteous :) Here's an article on buying and using them, apparently Morrisons do them in jars...

Ace I will venture in.

My favourite of all time, only me and my aunty likes it in our family and my grandma (god rest her soul) would make me one, phone me and whispering (even though she lived on her own) would say "quick come up i've made you a wimberry pie and don't tell your aunty" i would eat the lot with carnation milk

I now have a proper semi on

There's people in the world who have never had carnation milk.

Poor bastards
